I'll admit....I'm too lazy to search through all the threads on Predaking for my answers.

Do we know if the Gold on Predaking is Paint or plastic? I'm nervous to get it and have to worry about GPS.

As far as I know, Hasbro fixed the problem with the gold plastic issue. I am pretty sure we have nothing to worry about. The question is if its the metal or plastic version. I think its most probaly the metal version.

BBTS.com has pics of the gold colored new predaking re-issue.

Personally I don't like how the gold look on the toys. I prefer the yellow because razorclaw looks better in yellow.

I'm still surprissed how tiny preadking's sword is. compared to the giantic swords the other G-1 Combiners got.

too bad the 5 predacons swords didn't combine into one huge gestalt sword. like they did for TF Victory 1989 Liokaiser & Roadceasar.

I believe its a different type of gold plastic, very silimar to the joint pieces on ROTF Leader StarScream. I read on a former post here that Hasbro corrected that problem.

This is an clip from transformer Wiki on GPS:
    GPS misconceptions
    ALL GOLD PLASTIC WILL DIE!

Not true. It's gold plastic from certain eras that will die. It's plastic from about 1989 (second year Pretenders are notorious for it) and through to about the end of Beast Wars. As far as we know later toys do not suffer from GPS, due to a reduction in the amount of metallic flakes in similar, but more recent toys[1]. As far as we know. But just you wait...oh yes, just you wait. Toys with flexible nylon-based gold plastics, such as Superbase Optimus Prime's elbows, are not susceptible to GPS.
Even on toys well known for GPS, some of their gold plastic is less prone to break. Gold plastic which is nice and thick is much less likely to snap than gold plastic which is thin. Gold plastic which is under constant stress—like that at a joint—is also more likely to break. That said, some really nice solid parts can shatter like eggshells if it's real GPS we're talkin' about.

The original Predaking didn't have gold plastic so it could not have GPS.

It was chewbaccas knee joints I believe...I threw it away in disgust

They are more of a dark gold, sorta bronze looking. I hadnt touched it in years, and when I transformed it, it fell apart. After the first leg broke I tried to transform the second leg to see if it was a fluke, and it was the same.

I'm not convinced that Hasbro has fixed the problem. Besides the Star Wars crossover, I remember a thread not to long ago about a KayBee exclusive that was released in like '06 has issues with GPS as well. I wasn't collecting toys around that time, so I didn't bother with the details on who it was for sure. Makes me really anxious about Leader Starscream and HA Jazz.

    WRONG.

my superlink megazarak...which has gold plastic for the arm /shoulder joints...the rectangular area where the plastic mounts flush on the body next to the cab(decepticon sigil) area...snapped clean in half a few weeks ago when transforming him....GPS is a wonderful thing :(

well first thing we need to know before we freak about the reissue having potential GPS issues is if its gold paint or gold plastic.

I don't believe we have a confirmation one way or the other, do we?

You mean Road Caesar, Menasor and Piranacon/King Posideon. No other G1 combiner had a sword and Road Caesar had the only sword made of swords.
