So I'm finally gonna take a trip to Botcon! A few questions for those who know stuff about it.

    How do I pre-register?
Is there a certain package I have to get to get the exclusives? If so, what is it?
How much should I expect to spend on exclusives?
How much should I expect to spend on other stuff?

And any other information you could give me would be helpful.

    Thanks!

(We need a sticky for this..."Botcon n00bs, read this!"

Most of the answers should be there. There's been no info yet about cost or packages, but the set last year was around $250 for club members and (I believe) about another $130 for the extras - not sure, I had to get them off the 'Bay for a ridiculous price. Specifics are in Deefuzz's thread.

So you have to be a club member to get the set for a decent price?!!

    From the thread I referenced:

    Active Member Registration
Primus Package (attending) (Includes 5 figure deluxe boxed set, and all convention activities - except tour or class) = $249
Iacon Package (non-attending) (Includes 5 figure deluxe boxed set) = $249
Additional 5 deluxe figure loose set (no box, figures & weapons only) (only one per Primus or Iacon Package, LE 175 sets) = $129

    Non-Member Registration
Primus Package (attending) (Includes 5 figure deluxe boxed set) = $299
Iacon Package (non-attending) (Includes 5 figure deluxe boxed set) = $299

But you have to pay to join the club so you don’t really save much.

I have to laugh that the non-attendee price is the same as attending. And if you join the club, you get $50 off the package, yet it costs $40 to join.

Well, I'm tempted to join cause don't you get stuff for joining the club? Also, I sort of want that Astrotrain.

You get one freebie basic figure a year. The Astrotrain is like $90.00 plus shipping cost.

Don't you get some other random stuff? Like comics or stories books of some types. Well, I guess I should break down and join the club.:redface2:

    Eh?

    Here's a stupid question?

At the transformers collector's club. What's the difference between a Third Class member and a First Class member? All i see is a difference in price? What's the catch?

Third Class vs. First Class mail.

You pay more if you want your club magazine to come faster.

I joined the club, and I love it. Worth it if you like the new figs, plus if you're going to botcon, you MIGHT AS WELL SAVE TEN BUCKS.

    to make that clear...

    TEN BUCKS.

Plus you get comics, a free fig, and discounted prices on cool stuff. If you're going to botcon, it's a no brainer.

No prob. I know the club has its detractors, and I'd agree that it's a little too 'married' to the convention... However, the club mag is great, and if you are going to Botcon, the club is basically free (if you want to think of it that way). I like the free combiner figs, too.

I'm happy with my membership; the only thing truly a waste is the Master Collector magazine, which everyone just pitches anyway.

Well, I did it. I joined the club. I feel like a super nerd now. :redface2:

Anyway, I'm going to Botcon anyway and want the Botcon set. So like everybody said, it will save me money in the long run. I"ll check out the magazines and toy.

Still on the fence about Astrofence. $90 is a lot for a repaint. Any chance they will drop the price at all?
