I think this topic has been beaten to death but I'm planning on going on Vacation in a week and a half and going crazy trying to decide which of the NDS handhelds is best for me. - I don't much care for 3d ~ it gives me a headache, but I realize the 3ds is the current generation for Nintendo. - Cost while important is not a huge deterrent for me in the case of the 3ds ~ it'll drop to $170 soon (post-price match) and the free games for early adopting is nice. The used DSL's on CL are going for like $70 to $80, used DSi $100-$120. -I hear the battery life kind of sucks with 3ds compared to the other systems. -I will end up playing a lot of regular old DS games most likely ~ FFT2A, Pokemon Black/White
The 3DS currently isn't worth the money for some people. I've always felt that it's something fun I play at home on my couch, but it's not a vacation-type handheld. Go with the DSi if that's what you want out of a handheld.
3DS by far if you're grabbing it after the price cut. 3DS is a whole new generation, and it is backwards compatible with everything the DSi can do. Get the 3DS.
3DS definitely, especially with the price cut. It can do everything the DS and DSi can do, and more. If the 3D bothers you, you can adjust it with the slider or disable it entirely.
3DS. By far. Backwards Compatibility, a slew of free games if you get it under that discount thingamajig, and you might find that this 3D is appealing.
Yeah, get a 3DS right now. Don't wait for the price drop. Ask at the counter if the store has a price adjustment policy, and if so hold onto the receipt and take it in after Aug 12 for the adjsutment. Then you get the 20 free games in September and $80 back now. If they won't do the price adjustment I'd just try another store. Best Buy does it for sure, and I'm fairly sure Walmart does as well.
^Best advice right here. Here is a link with all of the details- http://www.nintendo.com/corp/nintendo3ds/news/
Just a note on this, be sure to log into the Nintendo E-shop before the date the price cut hits to get the 20 games.
Go with the dsi, it does regular games, downloads, and camera. There just aren't enough 3ds games to justify the price yet.
^ 3ds does all of that. next year the dsi is going to be obsolete. why buy a system when in a year you will need a new one. something you can't do on dsi is virtual console. gb-gbc-gba-game gear-nes dsi can't play that.
Considering there will only be a $20 difference(or $0 if you go with XL) I see no reason to pick up a DSi.
