Fight more than one monster?! Godzilla to Battle Other Monsters in 3D - UGO.com Could be prett-... GAMERA? Important info: - Yes, this is the final result of Yoshimitsu Banno's proposed GODZILLA 3D project. The IMAX version was originally considered but a wide theatrical release in 3D was later optioned instead. - The film WILL be shot in 3D. - The Godzilla design circulating the internet, from Comic-Con, is NOT the design nor does it have any relation to the project. - Rogers confirmed that Godzilla will not be alone in the film, and added to the speculation that there will be MULTIPLE enemy monsters! - Rogers also did his best to assuage the fans that Legendary/WB will not be making the same mistakes that Sony/Tristar did in 1998. Huzzah indeed.
I love Godzilla, but I really doubt any movie that comes out will do him justice. It will always be too focused on the human aspect of the movie, and not enough on the monsters. Sound familiar?
I am not sure one screen could handle Godzilla and Gamera together on it. awesomeness over loaded would destroy said screen no matter how big!
If this actually happened this could prehaps be the best film of all time. Mothra alone for me is just worth the watch but also Gamera, Rodan, Mechagodzilla and SpaceGodzilla. All we need is Ghidora and were set.
I'm fairly sure the mention of Gamera is just part of a throwaway joke. Nothing to get excited about.
This. Gamera is from an entirely different studio from Godzilla. I doubt Legendary/WB are going to want to pay out to 2 different studios.
Will they be using the 1998 design, or go back to the rubber suit style? Honestly, if it's 'Retro-zilla', I'll pass. I grew up with Godzilla being the center of my universe. Hell, I used to get in trouble in grade school because that's all I ever talked about, aside from TF's and GIJoe. Once the 1998 film hit, I loved the design. The old rubber suit fell short, and was replaced with something realistic and nearly frightening. The movie was good, if you take away Ferris Bueller and the rest of the cardboard cast, and the boss-monster's weakness for bridges.
Put me down for that as well. I watched some of the old Godzilla films a while ago and I thought they looked terribly dated.
Wasn't the '98 Godzilla in Final Wars? Anyway, yay. New Godzilla. I love Godzilla so much. Maybe Leo could appear too... SpaceGodzilla is cool, but wasn't he killed? And as for MechaGodzilla, there's gonna be a new MechaGodzilla?! And I doubt Gamera...But it would be bitchin.
Glad to see some 98 Godzilla design love. I freaking loved that movie as a kid, now as an adult, yeah, I can see it's a pretty average movie, but the monster rocked, if a bit underused. I can only hope the new design is something closer to that than a man in a rubber suit that hasn't really been updated since the 50s. Godzilla movies rock if you spend half the film trying not to notice the dire suits. I just hope the inevitable toyline is handled by a decent company, and has some nice fanwank. (Please a poseable 98 Godzilla? I'd kill for that.) Semi-static vinyl figures are all well and good, but very mainstream japan. Let's have something fun. And a badass movie. I'd hope they save ghidora for a sequel. He's basically the big bad of the franchise, so build him up. And I agree that the focus needs to go away from the humans a lot more than 98. The presence of enemy monsters means that Godzilla can take the limelight, so let's hope they make him into less of a supporting character. (Or heaven forbid a thin motivator for a quirky comedy love story.......)
I like the man in suit thing. But they've done some pretty good CGI Godzillas that look close to the suit. Anyway, Jet Jaguar needs to make his triumphant return. And I like the humans sometimes. Like the grandfather and grandson in Final Wars, or the brothers and grandfather in Tokyo S.O.S. I don't want this movie to be just "Monsters Fighting"...
