I'm not super excited for this one.

This is mainly because IDW's track record when it comes to licensed books has been mainly 50/50 for me. Transformers are doing pretty good, as is the TNG books I've read, but Silent Hill is shit and Doctor Who has been mostly disappointing so far.

IDW Should stick it to TFs comics. That Guy with The Glasses Bad Comic reviewer Linkara has bee panning bad Silent Hill comics for all of October(both in 2009 & 2010)

You know, everyone has used the concept of Godzilla's Eye close up on a guy in every poster. HELL!! I even used that for the cover of my fan made comic Godzilla 2454 Browsing deviantART

According to Ryall, it will feature the classic Toho monsters too. Sweet.

Eh, I'm sorta with Sage on this one. IDW's Jurassic Park series has been pretty meh, and the artwork for the dinosaurs is absolutely fucking horrible. They look like complete shit. I could have drew them better myself!

The artwork looked sloppy and the dinosaurs were bland. Some pics were done right like the cover art for example but a good 75% of the artwork is pretty dull.

But I'll keep an open mind about this new series. I hope it's good, and from the pic we have I have faith it will be atleast a decent read :)

I see. Well how I red your statement it sounded that IDW drew some odd looking dinos, but I guess I was overacting. I hope too that IDW gives some justice to Godzilla and bringing in his old foes and maybe some new ones. And who knows I would love to see a Godzilla/Transformers crossovers comic. Hell I'll read that!

I want to see Anguirus, Titanosaurus, Orga(Godzilla 2000), Biollante, All 3 MechaGodzillas, Kumonga(the Giant Spider) & Gigan.

I would also want to see Godzilla fighting The Gargantuans(Zanda & Gaira), Baragon & Bagan. Monsters wrote for scripts in which they were gonna fight Godzilla in the Showa Era films. In particular Bagan who was suppose to fight Godzilla in 1984 & 1995, later to be Godzilla solo return in Godzilla(Returns,1984,1985) & GvsDestoroyah. Bagan was also suppose to be Monthra's new enemy for a 1990 film that was canceled & rewrote as Godzilla Vs Monthra(1992). To this day his only feature in which Bagan fights the Big-G was in the SNES game Super Godzilla. That was in 1993, nearly 20 years ago. I think Bagan deserves at least one comic to fight Godzilla.

This is good news to me.
I hope Josh gets a run on the colors.

I really hope that the comics are set in the Final Wars universe.
I think that setting the myth in that paradigm allows for everything that each of you has on his individual wish list.

I know some people don’t like Final Wars, but I’ve never understood that.
Sure Godzilla is mostly under ice for the first half of the movie, but once he shows up he has more screen time than most other Godzilla films.
It’s also the one of the few Godzilla movies where the human scenes aren’t completely boring.

As much as I like Final Wars, Godzilla comes across as a bit too overpowered in it. Other than the Kaiser Ghidorah fight the monster battles are short and extremely one-sided.

That being said, I'll give this a go. Always interested in new Godzilla stories.

Yeah, he did seem a bit too powerful.

I think that the fight with Kamacuras was just about perfect but in the original film Hedorah was just about impossible to kill.
But even he got the thirty seconds of screen time which was pretty much "Yeah, these two are dead, too."

I've never even heard of it.
Is Monster World the title of the new Godzilla book?

    D'oh!
IDW never refers to the title as 'Monster World' in the link in the opening post.
For a moment I thought there was a Godzilla book currently available that I was missing.

That cover gives me good feelings, but knowing IDW that's no indication that Godzilla will actually look like that in the book. They tend to give their artists a lot of leeway on that.
