The original toy: Screw Head - Renegade - www.tfu.info

It's been a little over 3 months since I ventured into this project and I just recently picked it back up. I scrapped my previous idea of using Classics Ramjet as the base and instead went a more complicated route.

I hacked up a Universe Prowl and Energon OP3 and this is what I've completed thus far.

There's still a lot of work to be done, but I like my progress nonetheless. Still need to attach the arms and engineer them to work properly for both modes. They will come from TFTM Longarm. I will also be retaining the drill function of the OP3 limb so that it'll spin when Screw Head is pushed forward in alt mode.

    C&C as usual...

    7.6.09
Added new pics of what the alt mode is starting to look like. Still need to attach the front treads to the arms.

What about using Universe Megatron for the legs and hacking up part of Megatron's arms for the treads on Ramjet's arms?

I remember that crazy deal Hasbro/Amazon had where Onslaught was down to $10 and that it'd be free shipping with orders of $30 or more. It's a shame I missed the boat on that one.

But anyway, I'm going to see what I have to make this project work.

I'm pretty biased. I've focused more on Renegades than anything else. I'll see about getting a L-1 done.

Tried putting together a mockup over the weekend, but I couldn't find the right pair of legs to go along with it. There's a nice size drill from a neo-shifter set that'll work for the head. I also have the front half of Armada Blurr's head that I can fit into the drill for the face.

Thanks. This is pretty raw at the moment, but I plan on stripping Ramjet of all the wing bits you see and attaching parts from the OP3 onto the limbs. I'll be cutting into the blue drill to fit in the face. The red canopy on the chest will actually go on the back. It's going to take some guessing, but it should be pretty cut and dry once I start making mods to the Ramjet mold.

so basically, he lays down after you collapse the legs? It'd be cool if you hinged the front treads on his back instead of the arms so that you could still fold them into the torso.

Yea, that's actually something I'm considering...kind of like the treads that fold on TFU Galvatron's back.

Hm. As far as the head goes - how are you planning to implement the face and still have the drill bit look 'right' when turning? I can see you basically cutting a hole in the bit, putting a face inside, then having a flip-up "visor" that covers it in vehicle mode.

As far as arms go, RiD Wedge seems like an obvious choice, although they're a little short. They can just rest at his sides in vehicle mode. For something more elaborate, I'd hollow out the torso and have the arms mounted on rotators like E-Strongarm or Classics Bumblebee - they swing out in robot mode (and if you want to get super fancy, have the back of the robot/bottom of the tank swing open and shut to cover the hole). The side opposite the arms, instead of having a wheel, would have a tread assembly.

At least, that'd be my take on it. YMMV.

Maybe it would be feasible to attach the robot face to the upper chest, instead of onto the drill bit? This way the face stays in place while the drill can spin.
