I think it'd just enhance the character so he may actually get some development...

I'm starting to think the writers just don't want to have to come up with an actual scrip for BB.

Give R2D2 subtitles and then we'll talk.

They can't give R2D2 subtitles because he cusses like a sailor. By the time they blurred out all his F bombs there wouldn't be much left to read.

You can't figure things out based on context or the other half of the conversation?

What's being done with Bumblebee isn't some new idea. What worked well for Lassie so many years ago, works for modern TV just the same. We may not like it, but it does work.

    No.

That would be dumb and informal, and plus we don't need them.

the reason he beeps is because he can't talk. if we give him subtitles, that takes the whole point away.

I don't recall who said it or where it was said, but I thought it was stated that Bumblebee will talk at some point. Soundwave, before the series ends, may say something too--I think the source that stated Bumblebee will talk also pointed out that Soundwave can, but chooses not to.

No WAY.... i much prefer it without. And people sit there and take measure of development, like they need a daily allowance of it.

I just want one episode where he talks and everyone else speaks in beeps and bloops.

Like that episode of King of the Hill when they're volunteer Firemen and Boomhauer's recanting his story of the firehouse burning down.

He curses so much that all of his speech would be bleeps or bloops either way. That, & Ratchet doesn't have a spare voice box hanging around.

Make it like American Dad where everyone thinks they know what the guy with subs is saying but it's something completely different.

sorry IMO that's a bad idea...I rather assume to know what he's bleeping and warbling.

and if they did that, might as well let o' Soundwave speak or subtitle him

Soundwave does that creepy thing from Predator so not being a chatter box isn't such a big deal for him. Heck we've seen so little of Soundwave in the series there hasn't been much time for him to say all that much any way. The writers have also been sneaky enough that most of the Soundwave doesn't have to give an answer even if he did talk normally. A bit like Daryle and Daryle from Newhart or Silent Bob from Clerks.

If Soundwave ever says anything in his real voice I'm betting it's in the very last episode. That's a fairly classic TV move by this point so I think they would save it for a nod to the TV shows the writers enjoyed.

Bumblebee is a real problem though because Hasbro wants the show to push the character. Unlike R2D2 Bumblebee just doesn't have enough of a vocal range and he doesn't ham it up enough. Bumblebee just using one sound makes it hard to know what's going on unless it's something like really sad or really angry. Normal conversations just don't work as good with just a beeping sound.

I don't think it's a bad idea. That way the others won't have to repeat what he is saying.

Unlike R2D2, Bumblebee has a face that contorts this way or that. Bumblebee has his C3PO, his Timmy; he doesn't need subtitles, as his friends always tell us the other half of the conversation.

Hasbro doesn't seem to be too worried about Bumblebee's minor role in Transformers Prime, if they were, I'm pretty sure he'd have taken a much larger role by now;)
