Well they closed drop zone at Wonder Land here in Canada.-which is the same ride here. http://www.thestar.com/News/article/228446 I find it scary to think about it because I worked under that ride for about a month.-in one of those gift shops/carts- and was my exit from the park.(and even more amusing I didn't know there were wires in that ride sustaining it. Oh well I don't really know what to think but one...Im sure as hell even more scared of that one.(Im scared shitless of heights)
Guy in my unit lost an arm just above the elbow. He's done three triathalons since, and he's talking about getting one of his arms customized for spring-powered karate chopping. Even without that he's pretty bad-ass, though. Losing limbs sucks, but it's kinda amazing what people can overcome. Not saying it's worth it, but it's just pretty impressive.
What the heck!? Anyone know what happened to the poor girl? Did the doctors successful re-attached her limbs?
whut sucked is that she didnt even feel it until she saw all of the blood on the floor!!! im guessing she was in shock!!!
I knew that ride was trouble, TROUBLE I say. I knew that from the first day I heard of this ride... It really is sad though.
thank god for adrenalin!! I smashed my go-cart through a fence once a few years back, I ended up walking home all cut up and bleeding, It didn't hurt at all, but as soon as I got home, a few minutes later I collasped lol then I was in pain for the next 2 weeks
Sorry but all I see is "video" link which mentions that she is in critical condition. Is that the link? I do hope they can successfully reattach her legs though...I feel so sad and sorry for the poor girl.
How come? They have been incidents of doctors who have successful reattached limbs and the patients could use them again.
Feet reattachments rarely take, plus with putting the feet back on, they will have to heal, then she will have to go through months, if not years, of physical therapy, and that is all assuming she doesn't get an infection. If the doctors fear she will lose her whole legs, then they will just sew her legs up and make them ready for prosthetics.
Sounds truly awful. Hope whatever operations she can have are successful. Theres a similar ride in a theme park near me and we were all strapped in ready to go when some kind of overflow valve opened for the compressor. Made the operators jump a mile. Didn't take anyone off, didn't stop the ride, just picked up the phone to ask "Is the ride supposed to do that?" Doesn't fill you with confidence. Not that I'm saying this is anyway way similar just my experience on a similar ride. As for re-attachment, who knows. A friend spent nearly 3 years trying to stop doctors cutting his leg off below the knee and by the time he had no choice it became obvious his standard of living would improve without it. He now makes prosthetics and he's worked very hard to hide his limp. Alex Zanardi lost his feet in a dreadful Indycar crash in Germany a few years back. He's now driving quite successfully in the World Touring Car Series. Fortunately we live in an age where we can at least make something out of such a terrible tragedy.
