Cabbie rescues girl who falls through pavement - Yahoo! News
.....Chinese quality streets for ya
Saw that On MSN earlier, wasn't there something like that in Russia with sinkholes in the streets?
Woah, sick. I don't want to experience such thing.
Wasn't that in South America?
Yeah, sinkholes in Guatemala.
*insert Team Rocket joke*
Seriously though, I've read about this happening in the US as well after the ground underneath had been heavily minded & essentially hollowed out (can't remember the exact city, but I think there was also a "Life After People" episode about something similar).
Pretty scary stuff, yep.
Sinkholes can also occur when natural aquifers are drained by excessive agricultural and/or residential use, resulting in large hollow spaces where the natural cisterns once were. Sounds like a similar thing happened here, with groundwater flow disturbed for some reason leading to underground erosion.
That's even scarier. Like when there's mining it kinda make sense & you can know to GTFO outa there, but...
That might have been it.
That's scary stuff, I guess she's not going to walk and talk on her cell phone for a while.
I mean these days, having an car accident while texting won't stop people from doing it less than a week later, so why would this?
Edit - Hmm k, I guess if her legs are broken hah. In my defense, trying to open the link killed my browser, so I missed that completely.
Of course not, both her legs are broken and her cell phone was lost in the pit.
