Chuck is doing a 3d episode. God I hope they don't screw it up. I remember the last time the networks did some 3d episodes. NBC had a special 3rd Rock from the Sun episode. That one was fantastic! you could enjoy it with out the glasses and it still looked great. They made it dream sequences. That was well done and worked with the show. Drew Carey and Home Improvement each did a rush episode with 3d in it. Watching it in reruns shows how desperate they were for cheap gimmicks with it. in Home Improvement Tool Time is doing a 3d episode and one of the big gags is Tim and Al acting like they are going to hit the TV audience with a giant 2x4. They swing it towards the camera going "woah!". Drew Carey had his more or less tacked on with them shooting silly string and nerf ping pong balls at the screen. With the effect removed it is less funny and it pointless. I really hope Chuck doesn't go this route. Gimmick episodes like that normally suck. Like with the "Green Week" episodes on NBC where some evironmental message is shoe horned into the episode. At least Earl mocked it a bit and made fun of the fact they were having to do it. What are your thoughts on gimmick episodes like 3d episodes like tonights Chuck?
3D never looks good to me, glasses or not. I'd much rather just watch an HD show for the content and watch it in good, clear resolution.
I'd like to see a gimmick episode of TSCC where all the female characters are naked, all the better if it was in 3D.
I loved the "SOB" episode near the end of Arrested Development. Great satire of every ratings stunt in the book.
I can't watch tonight's Chuck because no one in this area got the friggin' crap glasses. Been looking for damn near 2 weeks, not even a single display that would have them. "Everywhere Pepsi is sold" my ass.
I don't know what's up with the resurgence of 3d, it's pretty annoying. It almost never contains anything other than really obvious "lol I'm shoving something into the camera for no reason" type moments, like the damn yo-yo bit in Journey to the Bottom of the Box Office last year or the eye getting squeezed out in Friday the 13th part 3. I don't know why they bother.
Drew Carey had lots of gimmick episodes that worked out better than the 3D, and makes me want that show back. But the "Dallas" dream stunt with Bobby Ewing has to be the worst gimmick of em all...
THIS! I found an old pair of red and blue's in the house, but I don't think that it's going to be compatable, or nearly as good as if they had just shot it in regular.
When The Mask showed up in theaters, Married With Children advertised itself as having an episode with CGI face effects. It all amounted to a REALLY corny moment where Al Bundy looked at the camera and his eyes pop out. Robert Englund was the devil in that episode.
