Too much going on for a MP G1 design. Fit more into a classics style.

Any actual MP would look like that at the same stage.

Reminds me of the MG gundam line art that used to be in the instruction books before bandai refreshed the master grade line with the 2.0 kits.

Wish I knew who that artist was. Swear he drew this pic, or someone good at mimicking his style.

Very nice robot mode. I hope the alternate mode is on par, I really dislike the dino modes of the other two MP Swoops available.

I prefer Soar for the cartoon accuracy, but as a Swoop fan I might have picked this up too. I do like the over all design, but I don't understand why they went with the sunglasses. Either he should have eyes, like the cartoon, or, if they are going for more of a toy homage, he should have a triangular visor (which would have been great). If they'd gone for that, I'd definitely have been tempted, but as it is, it doesn't press any of the nostalgia buttons that make me spend money on toys. Still, looks great, just not for me, I guess.

I personally think he looks good, but I can also understand that this new reveal is going to confuse people who said that Giga was going for the G1 toy aesthetic. This basically doesn't look like either toon or toy, and actually looks kind of like something MMC would come up with. Looking forward to seeing more.

A quick mockup of how it would look with a G1 toy visor - I think this looks much better and would push it towards being something I'd buy, although I appreciate that plenty of people probably like the sunglasses as they are, even though they seem to be something randomly thrown in rather than an homage to any version of Swoop:

This is not set in stone. Things might change during the development.

All linearts look busy. Because there are all the changes in shapes which are not prominent in reality. The busy-ness of painted prototype will be a lot different. As always.

I like the sunglases, but the way out to please (almost) everyone might be to give him eyes and removeable triangle visor and sunglases.

I am in the FT camp, and really like their swoop, but I find this Swoop very nice too to be honest. Never seen a beefy swoop, so this is very interesting for me personally. If this is the second one after Snarl, I may actually consider getting it to try the GP product. I hope all this whining doesn't make them change their course, but seing how it did with Snarl, I would imagine that they will unfortunately change this one, but just hope the body will be kept beefy. Also, I am hoping he will be smaller than GP Snarl, and cheaper too.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. I'm really surprised, as Sludge would have been the obvious choice to pull in new buyers. As it is, this now competes with a product that most already have on pre-order.

Much better! Makes a big difference and definitely homages the intended character to a greater degree.

Giga did change Snarl on the basis of fan feedback, so you never know... He may yet receive an 'ambi-visor'.

    Nice drawing.

I'll put him with the other nice Giga drawing of Slag.

BTW, Snarl's #1, Slag/Grassor #2 and now Swoop # 5 ... I've never been extremely good at counting, but I do remember there being some numbers in between :)

As of now, GigaPower and Planet X have my money for both G1 Dinobots and the FOC Dinobots. Looking good Giga!

Honestly I never really understood why people think Giga is going for a toy homage. Yes, the external dino legs are toy accurate, but outside of that one feature I don't think their figures are more toy accurate than toon accurate. They are an amalgamation of both, with some updates that weren't in either (like the sunglasses).
