No, it is not abuse. It doesn't hurt the animal at all. Does it hurt to dye your hair? Sometimes people dye their horses hair for shows and such. The dog will be fine, as long as they used real hair dye. It was just a stupid idea, but it would be the same as using human shampoo on a dog. It shouldn't be done becasue they have different skin then us, but I don't think there is any real danger.

I sometimes use human shampoo on my black labrador, and it makes him smell damn good, right, Black Shuck ?

    *heard his dog barks*

    None whatsoever.

I thought this thread was going to be about the Packers fan who taped or tied the shirt to his son (or whatever the hell it was) when the son refused to wear it.

But then I guess that would be silly since the word "Giants" is in the topic. Heh.

If he was a real fan he would have dyed himself blue.

    Don't see a problem here.

And then they'd call him Giants Smurf. :D

Or taken huge amounts of colloidal silver so his skin pigment turned a natural blue.

Don't see any problem as long as it's those "safe" dyes

I mean hell I've seen a cow and a horse painted in Geelong's colours during Grand Final week last year (navy blue and white horizontal stripes)

I lol'd at the interview that followed XD

There are plenty of ways to dye the fur of an animal that's perfectly safe. Heck, considering the dog was white you could do it with kool-aid while giving it a bath.(one of my roomates did that to his parents poodles last weekened, dyed 'em pink and blue). About the only way I could imagine it'd cause any harm(aside from any BS PETA might spew) would be if you did it to a wild animal and it became easier to spot by a predator, used some sort of toxic dye(it's too easy to find non-toxic and cheap ways of doing it), or the animal freaked out because it saw itself in a mirror and didn't recognize itself due to the color and had a crazy nervous breakdown(unlikely)
