When I first saw Roadblock, I thought they took him right off the Boondocks cartoon. Anyway, so far I am unimpressed with this. It hasn't grabbed my attention at all like the original did. I was always a huge GIJoe fan but every incarnation just has not held a candle to the original. Except the Sigma 6 toys were pretty cool. The only thing I really did enjoy was the Hub commercial saying they are a proud supporter of Cobra Industries. And on that note, I think it would have gone a long way if they would have just called it Arbco industries and found out it was a front for the evil Cobra. Just like the new comic that has a US military service called Cobra arise directly after the evil Cobra was brough down.
I am totally lovin this and prime. I was a bit iffy on the whole direction they were going but so far i can dig it. When does this officially start?
Actually liked this a lot more than Prime, despite not being a Joe fan. It's unsurprising to me that the writing was fairly solid though, considering Marty Isenberg is involved. He's quickly becoming one of my favorite television writers.
I've never been a huge Joe fan, but this is pretty great so far. Stream-of-consciousness thoughts: I'm not crazy about some of the characters' face designs, but the overall look of the show is gorgeous. The backgrounds look like paintings, but they've managed to make the CG vehicles fit in rather well. I loved the way the first ep began with the Cobra commercial and the "knowing is half the battle" quote. The character interactions have been really good, especially Tunnel Rat and Ripcord. Spoiler I hope Ripcord isn't actually dead. Tunnel Rat is very BW Rattrap. Jason Marsden's Duke reminds me a lot of Michael Bell's, which makes me happy.
I really like the new take on this. Something new for Joe. Will be tuning in for a lot of episodes. While I am not thrilled with the animations still, Snake Eyes looked pretty good.
Just saw it. I liked it, but the animation was a little odd. Like there weren't enough frames per second. EDIT: Also, did Ripcord say crap?
Just watched it finally. Had to wait for an upload since I don't get the HUB. I thought TF: Prime was meh. It is better than some TF series we've had like Armada or Energon, but pales compared to Animated and BW. This new Joe series is pure awesome in my book. Love the new take on it. Cobra isn't some huge terrorist organization with big bases and such.. No it is a public corporation that is secretly funding terrorism. Makes much more logical sense. You got the big profit public side with many areas from Pharmaceuticals to Military sales to bakeries. This goes to help fund secret research for terroristic bio engineered creatures and such. other thoughts: - Loved the naming bits. Pure win and hilarious. No simple your a Joe now here is your nickname. - Love Tunnel Rat. He is comedy gold. Definite BW Rattrap vibe. - No way Ripcord is dead. - I like the A-team/ Troops on the run vibe. - Nice use of the "and knowing is half the battle.." in the Cobra Industries Ad Noticed a few nice G1 nods with Springfield and the Rottweiler dog (aka junkyard) I don't care for the CC mask, but I can live with it.
Saw it, and while it had some good ideas, I'm not sure if I like it. The writing didn't seem all that good, and I'm still put off by the animation. I'll keep watching it though, see if it gets better.
I liked the story and the characters, but I think the animation models look incredibly sloppy. Everybody looks like they're either wearing MC Hammer pants or they've all got too much junk in their trunks to be fit for miliatry duty. I'm also disappointed that they've got laser pistols and not real military weapons.
It is MARS Tech. It is Destro's latest military hardware. One of the joes commented on "lasers" when they first get attacked. Implying that they are used to projectile. Plus I doubt bullets would have as much effect on Bio Vipers as the lasers would..
I've never seen GI Joe cartoon before to my knowledge. so this was my first introduction to it. I'm aware of the basic premise of GI Joe and the toys. just never got into it. The first eps were entertaining. The giving everyone a nickname thing kinda grated a little. But I understood it was necessary set up. all in all, im looking forward to more.
it is kinda of a joke. In the old series they were a secret group of military specialists. The code names were a cover for their true identities for protection of their families. Here they are a bunch of regular military people. Ripcord is just a bit of jokester who like to give team mates a hard time for laughs. So here it is just joke names being adapted after he "dies" as a way to honor a fallen comrade.
I actually kind of liked how some of them, like Tunnel rat, were annoyed by the nicknaming. It kind of made it work for me.
yeah I know I got that and understand. Everyone just has a code name these days, I felt it wasn't needed. Even a team of normal grunts sent out on a mission probably wouldn't refer to each other by their real names. Even if its just a number like Unit Name - 01 for leader, Unit Name - 02 etc. lol I'm just nit picking really and it doesn't bother me, cause now they all have their code names and moving on it wont matter. They will just be Duke and Road Block etc.
This week's episode was great. Introductions of Breaker and Major Bludd, and a new opening with Lee Majors doing the voice over
