I think you're over emphasizing the cheese factor of GI Joe. Of course there are elements of cheese, but no more than any other comic or cartoon property. 75% of the comic wasn't cheese. I'll give you the cartoons, but hey, they were cartoons. Anyone expecting anything other than cheese is deluding themselves. In fact, the comic was one of the better military comics of the bronze and early modern eras.

Not having actually seen the film, it seems like the film is lacking the real military action that the comic captured pretty well until the 90s.

Nevertheless, I can't wait to see the film.

Don Murphy wasn't fired, the rumor originated on his board by a member named EndTimes, someone who supposedly works for Paramount. Lorenzo did steal GI Joe from Murphy though, who wanted to actually do it justice.

Damn, Michael Bay really should have done this. :lol  Especially with his army-fetish.

Its the curse of the Wayans. You put a Wayan in a movie, and you know it's gonna bomb.

I seen the cobra commander toy and was like ok... well change does not have to be bad but... the power suits... nothing can save that

frankly If I worked at Hasbro I'd cut my losses and put it right on DVD

Trailer looked good to me; I'm just going for two hours of entertainment, and I don't think I'll be disappointed. *shrug*

Absolutely no plans to see this. I've been saying it since the first trailer hit, this thing looks like an absolute train wreck. So I'll be speaking with my wallet on this one.

I loved G.I. Joe as a kid (hell, I still love G.I. Joe). I just wished studios would hire directors that actually appreciated and understand the source material rather than just saying they do. One of the biggest reasons The Dark Knight and Iron Man were great is that the directors and producers were true fans of the comics and didn't try to change or update the story just to add more explosions and special effects. I think G.I. Joe has a very decent cast, but I don't think anyone involved with the movie grasps the "idea" behind G.I. Joe. Same with The Transformers movie.

In other words I plan to bring a big jar of KY when I see this movie because I know my childhood will be raped once again.

The trailer was cheesy beyond belief. And I think the trailer just showed the best parts of the horrible movie to come.

I think the problem is with the general plot, like, what the hell is Cobra trying to actually DO by destroying the eiffel tower?

I found this pretty damn hilarious considering we're on a Transformers board.

I voted bogus, just because Kickback works at DIA.

It's the standard movie terrorist "Look what I can do!" move. This is to be followed by "[Give me eleventy kabillion dollars]/[Release my brother from prison]/[Hail me as your lord and master] or I'll KEEP DOING IT!!11!"

I had really hoped they would do justice to Gi Joe inthe movie but alas thereis as much chance of that as there is of Snake eyes singing the male lead in Phantom of the Opera

I voted "FAIL!", but I think it's going to be in the "So bad it's good" territory.

Way back when I heard Sommers was the director, I gave up any hope for the movie immediately. He's wretched. However, when the first shots of Snake Eyes showed up - things were looking better, as if they were really going to try to get it right.

...but then shots showed up where he wasn't mostly in silhouette and just...meh. All downhill from there.

I fucking love GI Joe and it's sad this is turning out so cringe worthy.

I was talking toywise. When I see the trailer's I think, "Wow, when the hell did robocop become some super fast guy and get some clones." Then I find out that it's Gi Joe, I just turn it off.
Trying to make a movie about a anti-terrorist organization just doesn't seem to fit in right now.

I'm actually only going to see it because it has the Ninth Doctor in it.

Other than that, as soon as he dies, I'm leaving the theatre. :p
