Ah, I guess it's finally been confirmed. The limited gameplay footage that leaked looked pretty promising. Hopefully they can pull off a real gem with this grossly underused IP.
I agree about it being grossly underused. Hopefully we will see some updated figures for the actual Ghostbusters (not the monsters) sometime down the road. I hope this game is good, and sells well, showing that it is a profitable property.
Looks like I'll be buying my first issue of Game Informer in over five years. Ghostbusters hasn't had a very good history in the world of video games. I've never played one that was actually...fun. Still, from what we've seen, this could change things. Ghostbusters has been such an untapped 80's franchise thanks to the 30 metric tons of red tape that surrounds it (the majority of which starts and ends with Bill Murray). We almost had a sweet revival with the 88MPH comic book, but Sebastian Clavet quickly ran the company into the ground as fast as humanly possible. You think he would have had a financial back-up, what with all the money he saved by not sending anybody their copies of Transformers Genesis. Even if the game totally blows I'll buy it. At this point I'm starving for anything Ghostbusters. EDIT: Game Informer's got it on their official website: http://gameinformer.com/News/Story/200711/N07.1114.1221.16217.htm
Kotaku confirms Ernie Hudson AND William Atherton! This game is so bought it almost hurts. EDIT: Sorry about the double post.
HOLY SHIT!!!! YES!!!! Must get a 360!!! Unless it's coming to the Wii as well... then... GAH!@!!!!! Joy... overload!!!
According to most of the stories out there, this has nothing to do with that demo footage we saw so many months ago.
The article says something about a "more casual version" for Wii and DS - something about that sounds bad to me. Time for a 360 indeed.
Hey, that just means I'll need a 360 as well. hell, you're talking to the guy who has a full GB costume complete with pack, trap, and PKE meter in the closet. yes, I'm a bit nuts. so sue me.
Companies have gotten the idea that the Wii isn't for gamers, and the GAMES themselves seem to suffer as a result. Not that Nintendo hasn't done a good deal to push that idea(I do wonder how many Wii owners routinely buy games, or if they just got it for a coupel of "party" games...) Use remote for proton gun, nunchuk to toss a trap... but we likely won't get that.
Wow. I am duly impressed. My emotions are all mixed though. On one hand, there have been several Ghostbusters games over the years, none of which have ever been great, and most of which have been nigh unplayable. On the other hand, they appear to be going all out here, even getting the actors who played Winston and Peck and working hand in hand with the entire original cast. My curiosity, at least, is piqued.
First revealed screenshot! Here's a HINT: "He's an ugly little spud, isn't he?" http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117976019.html?categoryid=1009&cs=1 So far this is VERY good news! I have been waiting for some new Ghostbusters since the end of "Extreme."
The casual and non-gamer are Nintendo's biggest target at the moment (at least it seems that way considering how they've approached the Wii).
I just want to point out that Lego Star Wars is also a "Casual gamer's game" and is the best star wars game we've gotten. Course if their diffrent enough, I'll just get both. And since when was the PS2 the casual game machine? I thought it was soooo hardcore. *rolls eyes*
So, are all the original main cast returning??? http://joblo.com/ghostbusters-return Edit: Dammit, didn't see the kotaku post.
