Anybody heard anything else about this project? I know Seth Rogen is supposed to be attached to it and that the writers from the Office are writing it! And this has all been confirmed by Columbia Pictures. I am so psyched, because this means we get a new cartoon and everything! Ecto-1 rides again!!!

as big a fan as I am of Ghostbusters, I'm not looking forward to a third film... the game for me will be the third film (well, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis stated as much too) and (I really need to find the link) sony stated that they are looking to gear some of their franchises to more family friendly audiences and Ghostbusters was listed. That saddens me.

Also, a third film can only mean 2 things - a passing of the torch movie or a watered down remake.

Also, where did you hear we'd be getting a new cartoon?

    Seth Rogen?

He is not this generation's IT actor.

why can't they get new fresh faces who haven't done the same film repeatedly to ruin a franchise?

Just like Hugh Grant romantic comedies- you seen one, you seen em all and can sleep through em.

    Ugh. Do not want.

Stiller, Wilson... these would be better Ghostbusters IMO, but it has to be a torch passing picture, not a reboot.

I'm with holding judgment until there is more information but I don 't have a lot of hope for the project.

It will just suck when they remix the theme song. other then that it might not be that bad.

They should just get the cast from American Pie to do it.

That would be enjoyable compared to what we're probably going to get.

I thought the game was essentially meant to be Ghostbusters 3? I can't say I'm looking forward to the prospect of a 3rd film, considering Seth Rogen isn't actually that funny.

Seth Rogen needs to stop doing movies. He's losing weight from working so much.

Do it as a high quality animation (IE: Beowulf) with the original cast doing the voices

I read an interview with Akroyd a bunch of years ago where he talked about them doing an animated thing with the original guys. The story was something like they have to go to a ghost world version of New York where everything is the same but all demonic looking. I wasn't sad when that plan quetly died.

true, but they're using a modified version of that script for the game... which everyone has said is the third installment of the franchise which is why I'm pretty confident that IF a new movie is made, it'll be a passing the torch or a complete remake and watered down.

I don't have anything against Rogen, but I don't want a new Ghostbusters. i love the originals, and I really don't see a need for another. Let the franchise go and lets get some more original stuff made.

Half the stuff we get now is either remakes or based on comic books. Which though we've gotten some great movies It would be nice to see new franchises, new concepts start showing up in movies. Of course i realize this is a pipe dream with the way hollywood works, but I'm gonna keep on dreaming.

Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Hank Azaria, and Zooey Daschell as the goth receptionist. That would be a great movie.

It's too bad Chris Farley isn't still around. I've always thought that he'd be a great Ghostbuster.

I'd like to see Christopher Charles Mintz-Plasse (McLovin from Superbad), Michael Cera and Jonah Hill as new Ghostbusters. I think Seth Rogen would do well too. I think Linda Cardellini or Kat Dennings would be good choices for female Ghostbusters.
