It's one of the best anime series I've seen, and I've seen a lot. I hope the new SAC movie is translated since it seems Innocence will not be.

The SAC movie should be since its still gonna be Bandai/Manga, and was the anime named in their anti fansubbing letter (i.e. will go RIAA style over it)

Import our GITS2 disc if you can't do subtitles, Manga UK got it dubbed by the SAC folks.

There was talk that this dub was supposed to be release in R1 at some point too, although I haven't heard anything about that in a while.

Manga US/Bandai didn't get the rights to the US version of the movie, so untill its current holders (Go Fish Pictures) expire, I doubt we'll see the dubbed version released in the US for a while

    I concur.

I just got the box set for the first season, and watched the first 4 episodes. Thanks for all the recommendations. I am really enjoying it so far, easily worth 50 bones.

Is there a box set out for the 2nd season yet in the US? I read that there was, but I can't find it anywhere.

    My spoiler free thoughts

To me both SAC series’ are 1000 times better than both the films, Innocence was nothing more than an SAC episode tediously stretched into film length and the first film while enjoyable was lacking something.

SAC 1st Gig I really enjoyed, thought the voice acting was top notch as well as most of the episodes, hell even the animation was awesome, fine details like how someone moves and acts, lots of realism to it at times.

SAC 2nd was more of the same but more complex in areas that I'm sure some appreciated while it made it harder for me personally to get into. I dislike how the endings of both the SAC are similar but they are must see if you are a fan of anime in general.

My only gripe with the whole thing is the over use of complex metaphors and monologues when a simple sentence would do. It sometimes tries to be overly complex and clever but saying that I got a lot of enjoyment out of both series.

Just a heads up. Solid State Society is airing TONIGHT at 8PM to 1030PM (PST) on the Sci-Fi Channel.

Definitely a must see anime. It's one of the best movies I've seen and WAY better than the two Oshii flicks.

Yeah, it's the bee's knees. The whole Stand Alone Complex series can't get enough love as far as I'm concerned, it's so rich with cinematic and literary craftsmanship.

Woooohoooooo! I had Solid State Society recorded on my DVR and lost some sleep watching it, it was excellent.

Man it's stuff like that reminds me why I like anime.

The manga and the series are all you need. The movies are terrible, IMO.
