I'm glad I bought a frozen pumpkin pie lastweek. My mother used to make pumpkin pie from the can, but she rather just buy a frozen one.

I don't eat pumpkin pie for Christmas. Instead I like Scarlett Red Velvet cake and my mother's home made fruit cake.

That's what I was thinking. I'm sure if people look around for farms and farmers markets, they can score themselves a pie pumpkin which you just bake like squash, mash/puree (minus the seeds and rind), add spices and whatever other ingredients, and throw in your pie shell. Pretty much guaranteed it will taste far better than that made with canned pumpkin.

Me, I'm making apple pie with apples I picked myself, tho I do have a can of pumpkin left over from two years ago when my cat needed to eat it.

This is why I ordered 60 some odd cases of canned pumpkin at work before the warehouse ran out. We will be set.

 

thats entirely possible to do i am sure but there isn't enough available to commercially process and thus the shortage and while i agree on the home made most people use canned pumpkin any more as in many areas pie pumpkins can be difficult to locate and most of what you find in grocery stores are better suited to Jack O lanterns
