Just curious to know as I can only remember one ever doing this but which other gestalt leaders in the g1 american series used their "third" form in the series. I can only think of scattershot ever doing this and was wondering if I had forgotten any body.

Are you talking about the Base mode that all the Combiner Leaders had. I don't think any of them ever used it in the cartoon. A lot of toys had base modes that never got any use. Optimus Prime rarely even used his. The only time I can remember off hand he was under the effects of the Hate Plague. I think there was another similar time but basically he only uses it when he's evil. I don't know why being evil is the time to pull out your base mode.

Nope, never. The scramble city concept was never really fully embraced in the US show, it was more a left over vestigial from the pre-TF Scramble City concept, which was never released and folded directly into the Transformers because of the popularity of the brand.
    More play value for us.
I always considered this part of why Ultra Magnus was a City Commander, as he had a third mode which fit the theme despite him being developed ahead of time, the Japanese box was also branded Scramble City.

Yup. That's concept art. It's from The Ark I believe. It really just kind of looks like a sno cone machine.

And then onslaught and motormaster's base modes connect with little clips to trypticon:

More interesting and found out by me today is that all the base bots can be connected to metroplex too!

Well I do believe that was the reason they were called Scramble City combiners. All of the leaders had the base modes with the intention of being able to hook up to the city Transformers. The concept was never really used in the cartoon, at least not in the states. But yes all of the combiner leaders had these base modes.

Anyway here's Silverbolt because the link that was provided for him before didn't show the base mode. Silverbolt - Toy Gallery - Photo #21

Also, I don't think anyone has posted pictures of these guys yet.

Also the Seacons are listed on the Wiki as being Scramble City combiners but there are 6 of them and the leader doesn't appear to have a base mode. Similarly Razorclaw has no base mode and is not listed as a Scramble City combiner but the Predacons seem to have the same combination style as the other Scramble City Gestalts.
