    Enjoying Twilight in any capacity is indicative of shitty taste, but I'm a man-child that collects transforming robots, so should I really be talking? While I think the latter is way better than badly written teen vampire fiction and badly produced teen vampire movies, I'm not sure that my own subjective opinions are any better.

    Star Wars is more derivative of Flash Gordon, anyway. Especially the original film where Tarkin takes up the stereotypical, campy, over the top Flash Gordon villain role and Vader is just his enforcer thug.

    Star Wars is even MORE derivative of Akira Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress, as well.

    But I guess if you're Shatner, it could look like Star Wars was derivative of Star Trek, but only because he's so self-involved he sees everything ever as relating back to him in some way.

    I heard about this on AOTS on G4 as they where talking about it. The star movies will NEVER come together to fight twilight.

    That's awesome.

    What I do give Twilight credit for is giving some people, mostly women and little girls, an opportunity to be a FAN of something. I grew up with Star Wars, Star Trek, Transformers, sports, etc. Fandom is a big part of my life and I'm glad those people who haven't had a chance to experience fandom before now have their chance. As much as I think Twilight sucks, I can't in good conscience tell a Twilight fan that it sucks and then go into my man cave with all my Transformers and comics and things that they probably think sucks. Everybody should be a fan of something.
