Had a hard time fallling back to sleep this morning finally said screw it I'll get up and turn on the news and saw this on it. Man this is sad. I can't believe he's dead. Very good comedian. I remember watching Thomas the Tank Engine reruns as a kid where he had the role of Mr. Conductor. Kinda funny in a way he played a role on a kid's show yet he was a very adult centric comedian.
Carlin started it all!!! There have been many comedians who tried and still try to perform George Carlins comedy style,(observational comedy, laughing at the truth about life),but NOBODY will ever compare to the way He not only performed it but kept it up with the times. It may have been taken to far once in awhile but everything George said was the utter TRUTH and it made you start to pay attention to the way things really are.Rest In Peace Mr.Carlin, you will be missed.
This. Sucks. George Carlin was one of the few people I genuinely respected and admired. I have all of his books, most of his albums and have been to see him perform live twice; the most recent time being last fall, when he was debuting some excellent new material. His stuff made me laugh and think; he was not only the best comedian of our time, but one of the best philosophers as well. Some of his routines and writings changed my outlook on the world and both my sense of humor and philosophies wouldn't be the same without him. Rest in peace, George. Hope you don't have to wait too long for Joe Pesci to come along with a ladder and get your soul off the roof.
Just heard news of this an hour ago. Sucks. I'm feeling so shocked and bummed right now. George Carlin will always be one of my favorites. RIP George Carlin.
Oh man! My brother and I went to see him in a show in New Jersery last year. Boy this is a shock. Fun fact, Mr Carlin also did the voice of Fillmore the hippie VW bus in Cars, If this hasn't already been posted
The guy was one of the funniest people I've ever seen. I remember first seeing him as a kid as The Conductor.
One of the greats is gone, George Carlin... Hi everyone. If you've not lived under a rock for the last 30 years, I'm sure you've heard of George Carlin. He is one of the greatest comics, ever. Well, he's left us at the age of 71. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080623/ap_on_en_tv/obit_george_carlin Thought I'd pass it along.
Holy shit, seriously? That's fucking horrible Rest in peace you brilliant, brilliant man. The world just got a little less funny today
Random jab at stupid movie in unexpected place FTW! Kudos, man I have never been a fan of Carlin, his comedy or his philosophy. However, it is sad whenever anyone passes on. RIP.
Big fan of the man. Brain Droppings still gets me to laugh when im down. I ave most of his classic CDs and prolly gonna be listening to them for awhile
Man can you imagine the speech Saint Peter gotta to hear when he got to the gates........ It really sucks but if you think about it 2 of the best comedians ever have passed and thats Mr. Richard Pryor and Mr. George Carlin so I beat they are having a blast up in heaven or wherever right now.
I don't ever recall crying over a celebrity death, but there have been a few that hit me like me like a ton of bricks and I find myself unable to believe that they are gone. This is one of them. I just sorta thought he'd be around forever. And like many, I first knew him as Mr. Conductor.
R.I.P. brother man! He was a great comedian. I remember back in the day listening to his cassete tapes and records.
