Needed a Whirl for my Wreckers collection, came up with this. I love the Skyhammer and Topspin molds from the new line and this guy uses both figs. Throw in some Gundam/Border Break parts from the parts bin and you got this guy. Paint apps will be comin this week, and hopefully full pics with alt. mode by the end of next weekend.

    UPDATE

Been awhile on this one, but I had a few requests to finish him up so here's the build done on this guy as well. He just underwent a few changes today!

Ditched old head and went with a more classics styled Whirl head (from alternators Shockblast junker)
totally removed the hands from the vice pincers
removed rotor assembly from chest (now attaches via rare earth magnet)
removed cockpit, grinded the bottom surface flush, and glued it together; also placed a tiny magnet inside to attach to chest where rotor assembly attaches in alt. mode (you have to use the magnetic poles just right, but it's 3 magnets. One larger one on chest, and 2 smaller ones used for the rotor assembly and the cockpit)
added a over the shoulder cannon from a old Voyager prime/comettor 2-pack

Some things to note are- when changing to alt mode, the downside is I have to remove a screw in each shoulder and open up the shoulder assembly, then attach the cockpit glass by putting the pins through the top of the cockpit glass (those holes on the cockpit glass, up by the head in bot mode-see pic). The upside is that I now have a little clearance for a opening canopy cockpit!

The rotor assembly just attaches by plugging in to the back (held by friction) in bot mode, while attaching magnettically in alt mode.

Been working on so many different customs this weekend! Will post some alt.mode pics this week. Full post with paint and alt mode will be in a new thread hopefully this coming weekend. Enjoy Folks! C&C are always welcome!

I was wondering how long it was gonna be before we started seeing these. Looks like you're off to a great start.

I really don't like Skyhammer within movieverse, but for this purpose it looks good. That headsculpt fits way better than the original.

I hope you paint him in desaturated flat/matte skyblue, with gunmetal detailing here and there.

head doesn't work for me, it looks like whirl is wearing a helmet over the top of his normal head. for me his completely rectangular head is his most recognisable feature.

Awesome, can't wait to see him finished! I actually bought a skyhammer for this purpose, but will probably never get around to it.

Looks great so far. I getting more and more interested in that Skyhammer mold...I might have to pick that up.

Thanks for the kind words everyone! Much appreciated. I got a Rotorstorm in the works as well that is much different from the Tomahawk mold alot are using currently. He will be be based off the Energon Bulkhead mold with some good ol' fashioned G1 goodness thrown in!

The head is cool, but doesn't feel right. The helmet doesn't work for me. Energon Bulkhead is a great mold.

    Mods work really good!
I'd just change the head though and the tail thrusters are a little exagerated.
