That's some serious retooling! Not sure if I like how the giant tyres look in car mode though, they could do with having some mudguards or something to tie them in a wee bit more. Bot mode is lovely, and what we've seen of VTOL mode is cool. Seriously considering getting him as well as Springer.

Wow, they certainly went all-out on this repaint/remold. Sandstorm looks excellent!

    It looks fantastic.

Well, for the most part. I'm honestly not a huge fan of the head. Was hoping it'd be more G1 toy or LSOTW-styled. Maybe the 3rd parties can cook one up.

Edit: Actually looking at it closer, pretty much all it's missing is the faceplate.

definitely better than expected. They've gone above and beyond the usual different head and paint.

Wow, that's not a bad try at getting a dune buggy out of the Springer mold.

After seeing how fraking awesome Sandstorm looks, I can't wait to see what they do with whoever the retool of Blitzwing is.

Also I'm totally stoked to see what retools are come out of the rest of the Generations figures coming. Clearly Trailbreaker/Hoist and Grimlock/Megatron are minor retools, but I'm wondering what they'll do with that Orion Pax mold... It'll be like the red-card generations guessing game all over again, but instead of just new heads we might get significant work like Sandstorm! WOO!

Sandstorm looks awesome, hands down. Well done Hasbro. Pre-ordered with Blitzwing and Springer on BBTS.

    Wow.
When I read that Sandstorm was likely a remould of Springer, I was concerned that the land vehicle mode wasn't going to be much of a dune buggy any more.
I liked that buggy mode in the original G1 figure.
This new figure seems to have done a very good job of having a buggy alt-mode.
The robot mode looks good as well. The head looks like a nice cross between the G1 figure's grille and the animate/comics.
Now, if we could get a proper pic of the VTOL alt-mode...

Looks great except that giant flap behind his head. It's like PRID Kup/Ironhide again.

Given how much retooling they were willing to do on Springer, here's my prediction: A heavy retool of Blitzwing into Broadside, in which they keep the jet mode but get rid of the tank mode and turn it into a boat. I could see that working.

Nice, I like the overall retool and the VTOL wheels are pretty cool. But doesn't IDW Sandstorm have a face-plate and red eyes? Or my memory may be fuzzy on that. Otherwise, he's already preordered with the BBTS 3-pack set. I can just try to swap out his head later down the road with a more IDW-accurate one.

After it seemed like Hasbro was out of the triple-changers business for good I'm really impressed with what they have been able to do with the concept. I was kind of feeling like the excitement of collecting Transformers was gone but their triple-changers and some of the Generations figures have brought back the excitement.

Between the colors and the retooling it took me a moment to realize how much of the figure is re-used parts. Really like how a few changes made the figure seem so different. Definitely on my to buy list even though it's a character from when I got out of Transformers as a kid.
