    Generations TRIP-UP --W.I.P.

    Hey Gang!

Well, here it is, my very first reshell! :D

Its really fun trying to figure out where everything is gonna go & seeing in my head what this guy's gonna look like when he's done! I can see now the attraction of doing projects like these that you guys do, they really really test the limits of your skills!

About three years ago I came across a 1/32 triple box set of hot rods from REVELL at a local hobby shop. In the box are a '69 GTO ( my real life dream car), a '69 Camaro & a '70 Mustang Mach 1. I had had an extra classics Prowl layin around for a while & one day I was lookin thru the IDW official guidebook, vol.2 & saw this:

& it just CLICKED! But I never really felt comfortable with trying my hands at a reshell so the idea just sat there in the back of my mind, quietly naggin' me saying " you know you wanna" :lol  But now its time for me to step-up to tha plate an' swing!

So now, I submit to you "Classics HOT ROD patrol TRIP-UP"!

    AUTOBOT "TRIP-UP" x-tras:

1- New head w/ lite pipe & LED eyes

2- Arm transformation from RTS JAZZ

3- Bas-relief autobot symbol on upper center of grille

4- Silver autobot symbol on shoulder (L or R tbd)

    5- "Brass knuckles" on hands

    6- LED headlites & Taillights

    7- New feet (larger)

8- Weapons to be stowed on inside of car roof. Weapons to be included are: cybertronian versions of a streetsweeper, stiletto, snub nose pistol & baseball bat

9- Add hinged door windows that will be able to fold down and inwards in 'bot mode.

10- License plate to be hinged on one side of separated rear bumper so as to be able to fold away in 'bot mode.

11- Longer, more IDW accurate arms

12- Hinged plate on back side of legs to more complete the look of solid legs. Include details from underside of real car

13- New, stylized linear flame job graphic for doors

14- White letter tires w/ mustang symbol on centercap

    STUFF I'VE USED SO FAR:

    - RTS JAZZ Arms & shoulders

    - Kotobukiya 1/100 add-on hands

    - Feet from 1/144 Gundam Seed RED FRAME Astray

    - Wheels & body from 1/32 Snap-tite 1970 mustang Mach 1

    - Head from TF Allspark power GRINDCORE

    - Heavily cut-down Classics PROWL

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    UPDATES!!

    Hey Gang!
Been a REALLY long while since I posted any work, been a really long time since I had time to devote to the hobby sadly, but...I finally got back in the groove! The first thing I picked up was old TRIP here. Finally got him to the point where I could cut the body panels & have them fit back together in alt mode (more pics of that comin soon). Got a lot of work yet to do tho til I'm satisfied with this guy, like the bulking out & detailing up of the thighs & torso. Gotta tweak some areas a bit for transformation too as they got skewed somehow during the build but those are fairly easy fixes.

Also, decided to put the little "horns" on his head as an homage to the original figure tho I tried to stylize 'em up a bit so they didn't look too much like teddy bear ears! :lol

Aaaaand a couple of comp shots to show the height of the figure..nearly voyager sized in a deluxe class body!

Okay, finally got enough of the Alt mode fit issues fixed to post pics of Trip's car mode so far:

Still a major design fix tho that I gotta resolve, the mid-torso articulation was severely preventing the body parts from aligning correctly in alt mode so I hadda 86 it & now am working on a new design that fit & look better as well :D

So, whaddya guys think? Any ideas/changes ? Gimme a holler!

    Cheers & thanks for lookin...again! :D

I just posted a WIP thread on what is so far, the most diffecult project I have undertaken thus far. But I'm not brave enough (YET) to try a re-shell. Looks good so far, looking forward to seein it finished!! As for the character....I'm guessing maybe, Hard Head.

Trip-Up from the micromaster Hot Rod Patrol. Clearly you can see the original next to the shell. Can't wait to see him finished. One of my favorites.

I forget the name, but I am guessing it's supposed to be the white Micromaster hiding in the background.

It has potential for greatness. As for who it might be, I haven't a clue.

Yeah, thats gonna be Prime. When I'm done he will be approximately 13 inches tall. Thanx for the compliment. Kinda disappointed though, I thought more people would be interested.
