Since everyone else has done one...

The big difference with mine is I realize this figure is impossible to build a good alt-mode around without screwing up the robot mode so I just didn't worry about it. All of the transformation joints work so it's possible to make him into a tank or a gun or whatever but it's not important. I just wanted a really swank G1 Shockwave on my shelf.
After digging through the Shockwaves ala Shockblasts other customizers had made I realized I needed two things to make this come off better. I needed a better head than the Shockblast head and solid, bulky arms, not thin ones as a lot of people had gone with. So I used one of my extra Alt Shockblast heads and hands and stole some arms off CD Red Alert. The end result makes me quite happy.

Great looking Shockwave. I really like your unique take on the custom, the new head and arms definitely help it stand out.

The head is a definite improvement over the original mold's. I also like the purple you used.

Awesome, simplicity at its best! Can we see a size comparison to other figs?

    Classic :)

Easily the best Shockwave I've ever seen. The paint job is nice and smooth, and nothing looks out of place.

    Very nice!

Hey, I'm curious... how difficult was it to swap in Cybertron Defense Red Alert's arms? They look great on this mold. Was there a lot of work to make them fit?

Yes. There was a bit of cutting as well as refitting the RA arms as the sockets are effing huge.

Yeah, I figured... not only is it hard to find a good match, but Shockblast's shoulders are asymmetrical, which makes things more complicated. A lot of people use Classics Jetfire arms because they fit well, but I really wanted something with a bicep swivel... maybe I'll try this out! :thumb

Armada Megatrons arms fit pretty well. I went with a gatling gun effect on mine instead of the laser arm using the original movie Starscream arm. Looks badass too! Great work on this, paint apps are awesome!

Aren't the shoulder joints too wide to fit on one of the shoulders? I was considering Armada Megs arms, especially considering there's already one hand that's more of a weapon-arm... but then, those arms don't have a bicep swivel, which is something I wanted to give Shockwave (seems fair, since his G1 version had that much at least).

Also, the very boxy Armada forearms do clash a little bit with the slightly more streamlined Shockwave design... though that's a minor consideration. I might see what's involved in using these Red Alert arms instead.

The red alert arms do require some cutting and refitting of the joints but the end result is fantastic.

Nice job! I used the same head for mine and love it. I think the thing that bugged me most about the one that came with it was the face wasn't a hexagon. The six sided thing is reoccurring with Shockwave and should never have been left.
