No door wings == Not Jazz. Jazz was my first Transformer, before the cartoon or comics came out, and was my introduction to the hard truth that the cartoon designs were often inferior to the toy designs.

I have no attachment to Stepper, so I don't mind that he's inaccurate to the original toy.

Also ordered Swoop, because a unified color scheme for the dinobots is better, plus G1 toy accuracy FTW.

I was thinking about SG combiners actually. Stepper OR Ricochet (FunPub lols) was one I thought about; others were Wreck Gar, Hound, Mirage, and if course Optimus, Grimlock, or Inferno as torsos.
    There’s a lot of possibilities.

PotP Jazz is just a very poor quality mold. It uses thin, translucent plastic in structural areas and is prone to hairline fractures and breakage as a result. Vehicle mode feels like an eggshell trying to clip it all together.

Preordered both, but only really want Stepper. I'll let the kid have Red Swoop.

Never had the Jazz mold, but Ricochet colors make that mold pop! I wish there was a different gun or his targetmaster with him.

Hopefully we'll get G2 Defensor and Devastator from this line. I look forward to what comes next.

I don't think it feels like that at all. If anything, the floppy chest, feet that don't lock together, and loose legs on RTS Jazz make POTP Jazz feel waaaaay sturdier. I've never had any issues transforming POTP Jazz and everything feels tight and secure.

Yeah, I guess "spirit successor" is more accurate. I just couldn't think of the term at the time.

Although, TFSS did always try to use some vintage molds, some non-G1 characters, or just wacky concepts you'd never see Hasbro themselves do, like Ultra Mammoth, Jackpot, Thrustinator, Serpent OR, and Pretender Optimus and Megatron.

So far we've just seen 2 and heard of 3rd. All use current molds and are fairly predictable. Hopefully Hasbro has more planned that are a little more off the wall.

That's personal though, the only iteration of Jazz to ever have door wings was the G1 toy, and I don't see figures of Ironhide coming out without a head.

My big hope here would be for a combiner Ratchet release and a Paradron Medic from TR Arcee.

It would be nice to get a Paradron Medic.

EDIT: Headmaster could be labeled as Marissa or Carly.

Gotta say not a fan of POTP Jazz but that Stepper looks right gorgeous. I'd be tempted if I weren't absolutely broke right now.

Probably toss that to a YMMV situation. I've got the G2 Jazz version of the RTS Jazz and have zero issues with floppiness aside from the chest but owning the original G2 version, it ended up not bothering me. The vehicle mode is also solid as a rock.

It all boils down to personal preference. Who gives a shit what others think as long as the figures make you happy.

Hold on... I'm confused. When Hasbro calls these "online exclusive", how does that differ from almost every other toy they've released (and cannot be found in stores)? :D

That Jazz mold isn't so hot, though. It's the worst selling toy in the entire line, and there's a reason for that...
I'm not saying he doesn't look better as Stepper, but... not worth $20-22, imo.

Has anyone made a new head for the Jazz mold yet? I'd buy one in an instant.
Is that to say they go on sale tonight? Hoo boy...

I've got both the Hasbro and Takara versions of the original deco, and they're both super solid and tight, with the exception of the non-locking chest. Which can be alleviated or fixed.

There's no fixing wide swaths of brittle translucent plastic.
