They were first releases in limited amount.
Making people afraid they'd miss the boat if they missed out on initial release because they are special editions. Then they saw wider release at much reduced price at TRU but at the same higher price in the rest of the world.

 

I hope Shuttle Blast Off gets a G2 version as well

 

This is exciting. We finally get all 3 Monsterbots at the deluxe scale. Now we just need to get the Horrorcons.

 

Just when i thought my 5$ purchase of the little guy repugnus was going to be the final stand in till the next line in 2019. I'm even more happier now that im going to get a proper figure thats bigger than 2inches.

 

Even though i have blast-off in shuttle mode by takara unite warriors to make the bruticus set, I'm going to get this guy again. Well repugnus is going to be cool no matter what anyway. It was just a after thought of hasbro making a bigger than 2 inches repugnus i think. I'm happy to have both coming cause i will not turn those options down at all.

 

Also, is Repugnus going to be a Headmaster like Twinferno and Grotusque?

 

When I just brought the legends Brawn set this comes out. Oh well. I look forward to completing the Monsterbots

 

Welp, time to get Twinferno/Doublecross.

 

Im gonna go out on a limb and say that adult collectors are a major chunk of profit for the franchise. Maybe even more so than kids, who tend to gravitate more towards cell phone apps, interactive video games and RC drones. Hasbro is cashing in on adult collectors and hoping kids come along for the ride.

 

International fans got a wider release before domestic markets, and international prices are higher in general

They were early releases via hasbrotoyshop and then toysrus exclusives domestically for the same price. They were $25 each on both hasbrotoyshop and toysrus, and again international prices are higher anyway, so again no they weren’t mishandled, people are impatient and have unrealistic expectations

This is the monstorbot I'd really like as it was one of the Transformers I picked up on my trip to the US when I was 10, and it never made it to the UK. So always a bit of a special one for me!

I hope it's not as buff as the 3rd party version.

If Blast off was from combiner wars i kind of dought he will come with the potp prime master stuff.

Got mine as soon as they came out, no problems what so ever.

This is my concern, if its potp and not titan returns then will they use a combiner limb or the TR Doublecross mold.

 

He's talking about how Grotusque was released - it was mentioned during a toy show with no advance news and went up for sale as soon as they announced it, selling out within 3 hours.

The reveal pic showed a clear red Megatronus prime master, hinting he probably comes with it. Right now most of us are thinking it may be like the Arcee/Grotusque situation where it came with an extra titan master.

Even if they use a retooled Rippersnapper, they could possibly replace the combiner port with a titan master seat like Doublecross has and make him a head master. To me, that would probably be the ideal situation.

 

So like i said, this isn't the same thing because we know about it now and we may have months to prepare for it.

While blast off could include a prime master type figure, my question is will the "hand" fit onto his chest like the rest of the potp deluxe figures do?

If they use a combiner war type figure i dought i would be interested, sounds like if would take more time and more tooling then to use the TR Doublecross mold.

 

I'm just hoping that he's going to be a headmaster still and that I can swap his head with the titanmaster Repugnus and switch between two different looks.

 

honestly i hope he's a headmaster...that way all three have the same gimmick

 

When I looked at Blastoff from the leaked images (or at least what we could see), he looked as though he had pegholes in his wings that aren't present on the Takara version. Now the packaging art doesn't have these holes but the art is done way in advance of the toys so the artist more than likely used the Takara as basis. I have a feeling Blastoff will be slightly retooled to include Dreadwind's combiner port. Just a guess however.

As for Repugnus, at this point it's up in the air. Considering that Hasbro is likely to keep their deluxes to have the same gimmick in POTP, if he's an official release, he'll probably be a combiner. If an exclusive, he can be anything. However, Hasbro has surprised us before with sometimes bizarre and sometimes exciting decisions (Scoop?!) so who knows what they may do.
