I like this guy! Better than Backfiery if I'm honest. The bug mode is without posability or personality, which is a real shame, but bot mode is more than worth it.

    No, play the game.
The Neutron Assault Rifle in FOC just looks like two X12 Scrapmakers slapped together, with no wind-up.
Which is exactly what Starscream has.
It bothers me how many people believe it's the Scrapmaker. Even the box says "Spinning Assault Cannons".

Also, the X18 Scrapmaker is two large barrels with three holes, not six small barrels in groups of three.
Look at a pic of Onslaught's box.

Seeing as how I don't care for the gear shredder he came with, does anyone have any other gun suggestions for this iteration of Kickback?

perhaps Airachnid's? or Brawl's? i think Brawl's suits a lot of figures quite nicely

I gave Gear Shredder to Shockwave. Also plugs in Shockwave's jet mode.

The rear section of his bug mode doesn't want to stay together. The pieces peg together without any real force but they don't stay together for very long.

I'd like this guy a lot more if the weapon had some better storage position in alt mode but so far I can't figure out where to put it.

    UPDATE:

Nevermind that last remark. After viewing some photos and a review on another site I see that there is in fact a storage mechanism where you the little hooks near the middle joints on his insect wings are very clearly meant to hook onto the fins at the back of the weapon such that the gun straddles the two wings. It looks silly but at least it works and doesn't leave the gun laying on the table.

Accuracy be damned he looks better with the chest flaps up. On the actual model they're smaller and embedded in the chest though.

Picked up Kickback (and Starscream) at Wal Mart yesterday.
Just to get it out of the way, the alt mode is a bit of a mess. Not that i can't appreciate a beastly Cybertronian jet-powered grasshopper, but it seems everything needs positioned just right in order for it to look correct. Even then, the rear legs are fiddly.
The figure really shines in bot mode, though. I like the character this mold has. His posability is great, and the detailing and paint aps make it quite eye-catching.
For the record, I like the weapon, just not the purple blade-things. They seem obtrusive.

One design change I noticed between the instructions and the test model is that the leg spikes aren't 'sharp' and have added nubs that look almost like clip tabs.
    Damn American safety standards...

I really like the robot mode. I wish the insect mode clipped better together, especially in the leg area.

Although not perfect, I actually like the second picture's leg positioning better. It makes the figure a bit more streamlined.

Yeah I couldn't even get the feet in the first position to be flat on the ground because of the rounded spike.

Here's how I'm gonna do it when I get my hands on him, the first picture when he's walking, the second picture when he's flying.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but I came up with a slightly different leg mod for his grasshopper form that deals with the feet better.

Basically, you need to rotate JUST THE FEET 180 degrees. Next, you'll see there is a hinge in the thigh at the ankle... push the feet all the way up so they are now resting in the hollow part of the back leg with the toes pressed against the knee spike. This bulks up the legs while also giving you the spindley leg instead of having two big boots just hanging off the end. For customizers that are really skilled, one could created a hinged heel that would fold up to really fill up the last bit of hollow space.

I'll try and snap a picture when I can.

Edit: And here you go! Not the best pic, but it gets the job done
