We know that DOTM toys were reduced in size to accommodate Mechtech. I was just thinking about how weird it was for Hasbro to produce both FE and RID molds but RID are smaller then FE. The voyagers for Mechtech, deluxes do not have mechtech but are also smaller. Could this trend continue into the new Generations mold???

Will we get a dwarf Shockwave?

Somebody was kind enough to bring a WFC Megatron and place him next to the Generations toys on toy fair.

    They are smaller.

I would bet on it continuing, for better or worse. Saw it with the DOTM line and now with the Prime RID line. Twice looks like a trend. Fortunately the slight shrinkage doesn't bother me as long as detail/accuracy doesn't get tossed out too. UnfortunatelyS0312899A that seems to have been exactly what happened with a few of the new Prime RID figures. Hopefully the Generations stuff doesn't get similarly downgraded.

I actually don't mind the size decrease. It makes them usable as vehicles in a pen and paper game more easily.

NOt a fan of the size decrease but it does not bother me to much. Oil prices and inflation mean something have to give. Either pay more which there was a recent thread on that topic that did not end well or get a smaller figure. For the RID line i have Cliff, Soundwave and Wheeljack and even though they are a little smaller they are still nice figures.

I picked up Wheeljack last week and you speak the truth. He's fantastic no matter what size he is, and would not be more so simply by being 3/8" taller.

Hasbro can do a lot, even at this smaller size. I haven't bought one of these smaller deluxes yet, but from the pictures I see, you can barely tell they are smaller unless they are compared with something else.

This is just a hunch, but maybe smaller figures are the reason for 40 Generations toys.

Smaller figures would be disappointing. I'd hate to see figures like Trailbreaker be as tall as Bumblebee.

I too am not a fan of the reduced sizes but it is a sign of the times. As some have mentioned, there is a magic sales number of $20 that parents stick to for a toy and Hasbro does the same. Instead of increasing prices they had to scale back.

It will irk me to see Generations figures that are smaller than their older released Generations teammates. Nothing we can do about it and I am not about to quit collecting Generations due to this new reality.

I am sure in a few years (hopefully not too many) when the economy begins to boom again that TFs will increase in size again to compete with the market of that time. Until then, TFs shrunk!

And now the question has to be "how much smaller?" That's an awful figure to bring for comparison. Megatron was a pretty large deluxe. Has more bulk than you typically see in Deluxes.

Given that Megatron is slightly closer to the camera and that Shockwave is bent at an angle, I'd say its safe to say that Shockwave isn't that much smaller than Megatron. Probably around the same size as WFC Soundwave.

Our standards have gotten really low if WFC Megatron is considered a large Deluxe.

Thanks a bunch, it took my technologically illiterate ass hours to jump through all the hoops to get the thing saved and posted but I am proud of it. Not exactly art but funny. I am curious to see how much nerd rage I would induce if I post something in the Beast Wars Appreciation thread and this comes up.

    Lol.

I really don't like the new tiny size. I'm pretty disappointed. Guess this is The Great Upgrade mentioned in Beast Machines. Lol.

If it were up to me all the deluxes would be the size of Animated Lockdown. But if the size tradeoff is the reason we're getting the additional Generations stuff I would call it a win.
