I used the body of Dreadwing, replacing his head with the one from Hero Megatron. They have the same plug and screw system. I had the idea from an article about how Dreadwing was going to be repainted as a new Megatron for the G2 line, but was cancelled to create BW. Then I saw the IDW TF comics in which they used a Megatron with a stealth bomber alt form; it was evidently based on this unmade toy!

There's something a little too pudgy about this mold for Megatron (though the gun certainly fits, and the colours match the IDW version to a degree). I think that the ROTF Mindwipe mold is actually a much better match for that version of Megatron though... with a little work.

Speaking of what you've done here, I think it still works, but I feel like Megatron's neck is too long (or his head sits too high) and it makes the bot mode look a little odd. I think if the Megs head could lay down flatter, more like the original Dreadwing head, it would match up with the stout proportions of the body more and look better all around.

    G2 Megatron

Starscream can be easely done because the mold for energon Starscream is exactly to the mold of Smokescreen. You can just swap heads! As for Megatron, I believe this is how he would have looked had the repaint/remold had been done. I am hoping that Hasbro would make a new mold based on this idea, because I feel this alt mode is perfect for the character! No more transforming choppers, or guns, or tanks, or racing cars (cybertron).

I have always liked this concept of Megatron and Screamer being more of a team than just Screamer wielding Megs in his gun mode. I mean I could totally see Screamer being the "pilot" and Megs the 'commander" in their combined mode...But that said, the mold would have to be modified so that Megs is not so beefy.
Anyway, your custom is simple and very effective. If I saw this on the shelves, I would definitely pick one up hand's down. Awesome work mate! I may try this myself :D
    Thanks for the inspiration!

Just to make a correction. Energon Starscream transforms similarly to this Smokescreen/Smokejumper mold. It is absolutely, positively NOT the same mold. Not in any way.

But the headswap would probably still work. Neat idea. :thumb

You are right, they are not the same mold, but they are build the same way, to the point that they transformation is the same. They used Smokescreen as a base to make the Energon Starscream mold. It is the same for other molds, for example Cybertron Thundercracker, that is based on the mold for the G2 cyberjets (for example, Hooligan). That is why you can use the head of E. Starscream in Smokescreen!

Has this been tested? As I recall the E. Starscream head is on a rivet, so it's kind of hard to remove. I think that the actual transformation is very similar, though there are some differences to be certain.

Wow, that Starscream is GOLD. Such a simple mod, but it works really well! :thumb

I still think Megatron's head needs to sit lower. The "neck" gap looks odd.
