So, the 20th anniversary DVD and multiple other sources stated that the generation 1 seasons would be released in 2007. I was under the impression that spring would probably be the timeframe for these releases.

But, does anyone have any specific information on dates we could expect these?? TVShowsOnDVD.com is usually the most up to date and accurate but they show nothing on it yet. I assume that means no dates have been given but i wanted to check with the TF community anyways...

That's the Rhino release. They're being re-released by another company I hear.
Don't know what the specs are though. I'm sure someone can enlighten us.

    The Sony release

Sorry I should have clarified from the beginning - I realize Rhino has a box set out already. I am interested in the Sony release that is coming out this year according to sources. My post was just asking if anyone has any dates for which seasons are being released when as we get closer to the movie in July.

There should be some, albeit indirect, news about these sets and future endeavors from Sony BMG's DVD department in the near future.

I know this is well after the fact, but thanks to all who supported the TF:TM widescreen project by picking up a copy. We all appreciate it.

Even though I already had 2 versions of it, I thoroughly enjoy this edition of it. Sony did a great job on everything.

Sony BMG really went out of their way to put in the most coolest features for the 20th Anniversary of the TF Movie, so I can't wait for them to release the TV series on DVD.

Why couldn't he give us more info then that. Just a rough idea of how long we have to wait for these sets.

I just ordered the complete Beast Wars and Beast Machines sets, and picked up the widescreen TFTM, so the sooner I can pick up the original series, the better. I would pay an arm and a leg for the Rhino releses, but I'm hoping the Sony ones will have commentaries and better bonus features, so I'm gonna wait for them.

Plus, hopefully they'll be cheaper, too.

I just hope that Sony doesn't use the Rhinoized versions of G1. It would be nice to get DVD's of Season 1 & 2 that are the same as when they originally aired. Instead of how Rhino thought they should have been.

I'm not buying this TV show over again. I'm going to have to just be fine with the Rhino sets.

    QFT

I've gotten used to the SFX on the 1st sets and I set the audio on the original broadcast version on reflex. Buying the movie again is 1 thing, but I'm not shelling out bucks for a season set of episodes I own.

It's exactly why I didn't buy the "Best of He-Man" DVD set. Because I knew I'd buy the season set.

Its very clear and enhanced picture quality. I got it around 2 years ago for I think around $100.00. It has all the seasons and includes the Transformers Movie and a Commemorative Transformer as well.

I wish I could give more information, but it will have to come from official sources.

To heck with the official sources. Dish out the dirt, man!! :)

Why are they being so secretive about this anyway? Why not just tell us. All we want to know is "When"???

Them's the breaks when you work for Hasbro and represent the Transformers brand. Karl and the other Council member possibily had to sign some sort of NDA hence why they've got to be tight lipped.

And besides a little patience never killed anyone :)  And summer's only 6 months away, meaning whe could get news at any time
