Were there any Grimlocks released in the states with a blue waist? I happened on a boxed one and was wondering if it was rarer or not.

A quick pic to show what i'm talking about. He's missing a few stickers and does have a rubsign. Also..where is Grimlock stamped anyway. Having a tough time finding it for some reason. Thanks!

ok, never heard of diaclone Grimlocks being found in G1 packaging. do you have any proof? also, can we see the rubsign. this would be a VERY interesting discovery if true, however, until proven otherwise I would assume this is a fake. How long have you owned this?

    Isn't that the Diaclone Grimlock?

    EDIT:
Ah, yes... in package... with a rub symbol? Sounds odd...

That's a diaclone? Oh.....well, that makes sense. I didn't know what the diaclone grimlock looked like until now.

Someone pulled a switcharoo on you probably. Doubt they're dumb enough to use a real Diaclone Grimlock.

    If they are then enjoy!

Does anyone know if they sold Diaclone in the states? My Dad picked me a Grimlock back in '85 (which I still have now), and mine also had the blue waist. I can't remember for the life of me what the package looked like though....I'm just wondering where he would have gotten a diaclone back then...

I think there are also KOs of the Dinosaur Robo version.

Hasbro were under the gun timewise the first couple of years of the line, a couple of other plans changed with the Dinobots, i guess it's not impossible
that some (genuine) pre-TF versions slipped out of the factory in TF packaging.

    Diakron - Transformers Wiki
A few of the molds came over prior to Transformers' release in the states as Diakron, which was a direct import of the diaclone toys. But Grimlock wasn't one of them.

I found a Diaclone* Grimlock back in '85 at a store in upstate NY called "Toys for Joy." I remember finding it on a shelf way before Hasbro actually released the Dinobots. I also remember painting the blue waist red to match the cartoon, and later blowing it to smithereens with an M-80 when I entered my teen years. Sigh.

I never had a proper Hasbro G1 Grimlock until last year when my fiancee got me a boxed original for X-Mas. Bless her.

*I can't remember if it was actually a "Diaclone," but it was not in hasbro packaging and it definitely had a blue waist.

Would that Toys for Joy upstate NY store happened to be in Plattsburgh? If so - that's my area!!

No, it was in East Greenbush, right outside of Albany.

Man, me too. That's where I got my very first Transformer figure, Gears, way back in '84. It was also the place where I saw many, many TFs for the first time (like Jetfire). They always got stuff before KB or TrU.
