I'm thinking very seriously about getting them, how are the games and how is the online play?
crap and rubbish.
Gears 1 is good, Gears 2 is way better. Multiplayer is amazingly fustrating.
Skip the first one.
Id say having the 2 is good for knowing the story (which is vague in a way). They are both fun games IMO.
I love both of them, but they're about 10 times better playing co-op.
Got bored with the first one. Didn't bother with the second.
Rent the first one and sink your teeth into the second one.
I think they're both pretty awthum, my only beef is you move like a tank.
Got GOW1 off cheap from Ebay, and I still haven't finished it due to lack of time and way too many games to play. But playing co-op is way more fun than playing by yourself.
The first left such a bad taste in my mouth that I never played the second one.
Love em both. Second has far better multiplayer though. Plus the Horde!
Played through 2 with DK. Had some fun, but I wouldnt want to do it again.
Amusingly enough, the day after I told Obvious Prime I'd help him with it, my 360 rrod'd. Saving me the pain.
Never bothered with the multiplayer, didnt really care for the gameplay all the much.
Oh, and the plot was a huge pile of crap from what I could gather.
They get boring pretty quickly.
Geez, lotta hate here for some reason. I don't know, I enjoyed it much more then most first person shooters including any Halo (of course GoW is actually 3rd person). It has plenty of supporters though, so despite what a few people here are saying, go read some more reviews or rent them and don't take any one persons word on it. The price for the first one is low enough not to feel too much buyers remorse no matter how much you may not like it. Still, just like any other FPS/TPS, it really is much better co-op. And while the story is fodder for giving you a reason to kill things, I found the character interactions highly amusing. The second one also has horde mode, which, again playing multi-player, is a blast.
I hear ya, kinda silly for those that didnt try part 2 after playing the first. They cheated themselves out of something better. Ill admit that part 1 can get pretty boring if you tire of the hard ass multiplayer, but part 2 improved that.
Does either one have online co op play?
Awesome. I might rent number 1 and then buy number 2, the videos for the horde mode look awesome.
i like 'em both
just mindless fun
and it looks pretty!
plus its got john dimaggio
online is freakin hard as heck BUT, horde is great fun with a bunch of guys
i had been leary about picking the games up myself but when GoW2 came out i decided to get 'em both and yah. i likes 'em
They're both pretty good offline, but the online play just sucks. When I played with my nephew online everyone was either glitching, lagswitching, or modding the game in the most idiotic ways you can think of.
