    Hey All,

Does anyone know a place that sells the Gear4Toys Ironhide and Ratchet addon? The only place I have seen it is BBTS and they are sold out.

So if anyone knows of another store, it would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I don't know who sells them now but I have a set and they are pretty freaking cool.

    Very underrated third party add-on

I got mine from BBTS when they first came out, haven't seen them since. They have a website, where it says you can order them directly

Does anyone know what these retail for? EDIT: $19.99, plus shipping. Not bad.

I don't believe in "fixing" G1, in some ways it's like polishing a turd, you're never going to bring a 28 year old toy up to todays standards, and I like the clunky nature of the early toys, but these do look quite nice.

    I get I-gear PP-05 soon though.

I personally don't mind add on parts for G1. I mean, the CD Devy looks great. Ironhide and Ratchet need these. I mean, they look like crap with out these. They actually don't look like anything but a car wreck without these.

Think I'm going to pick up another set and paint them black/green for my black ironhide and green ratchet

I had a choice at a con to by these or the simple heads. I went with the heads and that is good enough.

I also agree that G1 toys are better left alone. A lot of the appeal is how outdated they are. But Ironhide and Ratchet desperately need a head and I agree with either fix.

My choice was financial. I got the figures for pretty cheap and I didn't want to spend the price of the figure to get a head so I paid 5-10 bucks for the simple (kill the sticker) heads. They were one purchase I was completely happy with.

I can see why people update their toys, but if I want a great Devastator I'll buy Hercules, and then the juxtaposition between him and G1 Devastator is huge and you can see the amount technology has changed in 30 years.
That and I couldn't justify some of the add-on prices, such as crazy devy.
It's all part of the legacy, that's why I don't mess with G1. Doesn't mean I don't think others should, as I've said on other threads the proliferation of choice, and third party add-ons mean everyone has something different in their collection these days, and that is very cool.

Sid I am on your side with not needing upgrades for G1. The new Xtransbot set for Devastator is nice, and much much much much cheaper than the CD stuff, cheap enough to get my attention. Then I had to take a step back and ask myself, why does your G1 Devi need the fix? You have Hercules, you are getting Giant, leave G1 alone. So I am doing so even though a part of me would enjoy the add ons.

The only upgrades I have for my G1s are the BTS Prime matrix set because it does not really alter the figure. The IT Quints because, well they are Quints and work with the G1s and the Ironhide and Ratchet little heads. I had to get the heads because of all the G1 toys those two really look NOTHING like the show.

The thing I actually like about G1 addons is that they make an effort to remain G1ish. Nothing about CD parts really make it look like a classics figure. It just adds articulation and makes some parts bigger or a different color. So in the end, it is still G1 looking.

It is almost like that could have existed in those days, and probably no reason why it didn't.

Also, all G1 was parts forming, so it literally makes no difference at all.

I really like those, Ratchet especially. If they are available I might get one, if the price was right.
