I put him on my Decepticon shelf by ML Soundwave, Ravage, Rumble and Frenzy. He honestly doesn't look too bad. It's different, I grant you, but I get a Laserbeak feel from from him, mostly from the color scheme.

I didn't understand this toy till I saw the head in person and it clicked.

-The top of his head is painted like his Cybertronian mode's visor.
-The molded "eye" of the toy is painted silver, like it's a weapon emplacement. And it winds up right in the front of both modes. Laser-beak.
-Remember how his original function was "Interrogator"? Well he LOOKS like a crazy-ass little interrogator.

He's a good fit with other non-tape tapes like United Frenzy and Rumble and Universe Ratbat.

Honestly it works for me. I just take his "battle mode" and fan-mode it a little, it works for me! :)

its ok, its a cool mold and can see the idea like how ratbat was a repaint of cybertron sideways/noisemaze.

but i think like mentioned before booster x-10 or if you already have him or the cash botcon laserbeak is pretty good.

cassettes are always cool and a throwback but sometimes them having a bot mode if done right is cool. like overkill from classics grimlock.

I'm not bothered about alt mode but for me Laserbeak should have a bird mode or it's not going in my collection.

Well, if Senator Ratbat and Tripredacus Agent Ravage are any indication Laserbeak having a humanoid form isn't too far of a stretch... though that's really more of an 'alternate history' kinda thing and not 'modern but faithful update.'

It's an interesting homage, but X10 will remain my classics Laserbeak until a better alternative comes along.

Yep, same here... I love that mold, BUT in my movie figure collection, not G1/CHUG/RTS.

Wow, I hadn't thought about that... he really does resemble his first appearance, doesn't he?

I think he's okay, but if I were to go the route of RTS Rumble and Frenzy and give each of the cassette-bots new forms with vehicle modes and robot modes, I'd have kept Laserbeak (and Ravage) animal-like in robot mode and given them vehicle modes as well. I'd have Laserbeak be a bird that turns into a drone jet, and Ravage be a cat that turns into a motorcycle.

Slap a well known name and paint job on any old figure, make company more money. Got it.
It's nice when it works, but not this time, imo.

To me its not so much that its a movie mold its more like it just doesn't have that classic feel. Would've worked better a Cybertronian Laserbeak.

He fits well with Cybertron or Prime Soundwave in my opinion, if they did make soundwave something different than a cassette player, for the classics/universe, then he would work as a good representation of laserbeak

Agreed. When we get a new mold Classics Laserbeak, then we'll have a good Classics Laserbeak. Movieverse toys don't ever count.

I don't look at it as a classics Laserbeak, but more of a cybertronian mode Laserbeak. Perhaps what Laserbeak would have looked after the great Maximal upgrade al la Ravage.

It's not a great Laserbeak but it's an awesome mold and a really cool deco so I guess two out of three ain't bad.

It's a nice deco... but I can't consider him Laserbeak.

He pairs quite nicely with RotF Mindwipe... possibly better than the original Skystalker I'd say.
