Remember, you only need one of the bot heads for this kit, you do NOT need both

Figure Factory by ShockBlade501 - Shapeways Shops

You read correctly, a Steven Universe/Transformers crossover figure conversion kit! This is Garnetron representing the Crystal Gem Garnet. Converting from robot to Beach City fire truck to the combiner torso of a combiner based on the fusion depicted in the temple statue. Kits for the other gems like Amethyst, Pearl, Peridot, and Lapis Lazuli are in the works as well to complete the combiner using various CW and PotP molds. You can read more about why I'm doing this and the behind the scenes production of it here on my other thread: link

I received my test prints from shapeways yesterday and made some minor tolerance revisions to a couple of the models which means that they're ready to go on sale. Since I made revisions to some of the models it will likely say "first to try" but they have been fixed so there's nothing to worry about. Before I put them for sale I thought I'd make this thread to give out some tips and guidelines to clear any confusion first.

    First.

    Which models will you need?
I have the model for the robot mode head uploaded twice. One version is a single piece, done so to keep costs down or work better with different materials. The second version of the head is split into two pieces, keeping the visor separate from the rest of the face. This is done for ease of painting purposes but also you can try to use it to imitate light piping to an extent. To get the whole kit, you just need one of every model with "Garnetron" in the title, just be sure that you're only buying one of the robot mode heads. You Do NOT Need Both Of Them.

    Second

    Material reccomendations
For the Gauntlets and both the Bot Chest and Combiner Chest, I recommend getting the strong and flexible material. I highly recommend printing it in Purple, Pink, Black, or whatever color you want to have on the pegs, ports, and joints because these areas will likely have any paint that is applied to them rubbed right off when assembled. The gauntlets can only be done in the strong and flexible materials right now, but if you want, you can try to do the Bot and Combiner Chests in the frosted detail or highdef black acrylate materials. They are untested in these materials, and the combiner chest has some sprues that may be very difficult to remove in the frosted detail material. The Bot chest should have no issues with the either materials though.

For the Heads I recommend using the frosted detail material but they should have no issues with the strong and flexible or highdef black acrylate materials as well.

    Third

    What you'll need
The base figure: This kit is designed to work with Combiner Wars Hot Spot and PotP Inferno as they are identical. The Garnet pieces will work with the Onslaught mold as well, but the combiners mode head and chest will not. If there's enough demand I can adapt the combiner head to work.
Wire snippers: These are for snipping some of the sprues. Depending on how small the snippers are, you may need to cut some of the sprues with a sharp blade.
Exacto knife/ Box cutter/ sharp blade: You'll need a sharp blade of some sort to cut and/or shave off the remains of the sprues. And as always, please be careful when handling sharp objects.

    Fourth

    Assembly
I'll be making some assembly charts and will post them in this spot soon

I'll also be updating this post soon with a painted version of the custom.
Hope you guys enjoy my work!

I tried to make a Garnet one time but it's not even close to as impressive as this.

I just took a look at it, I'd say that's one of the best things you could do with the PrimeStrong mold! Garnet's whole story is just begging to be turned into a duocon. I've actually been highly considering making a second Garnet or even a Stevonnie out of that new BattleTrap mold, might as well since I already have my mesh for Garnet's head

I did to and then I considered it but it just didn't make since in my mid because if it can be helped I want Sapphire to have the smaller more slender robot and alt mode but garnet is more red than blue. The reason it worked with PrimeStrong on any level is because the pants and robot mode didn't interact really. Now Stevvonie would probably work.

The mallet sections of the hammer are made from the forearm pieces of the gauntlets. The bridge that connects the forearm parts and the shaft of the hammer is still in the works.

This is a compelling reason to get that Inferno repaint coming up in potp.

I love Steven Universe. And this is a great concept.

Hey sorry about that, I just realized they don't work on my end either. Here's the link to my shapeways shop, these are currently the only items in the shop so they won't be hard to find Figure Factory by ShockBlade501 - Shapeways Shops

Glad you like it! In my opinion it's the only reason to get that Inferno, because I don't think it works very well as Inferno in the first place ;)

...I think I might just have a solution to a MAJOR problem I was having with a custom I was planning on making. Those absolutely massive mitts are perfect for what I'm looking for, although the cost might just come back to bite me if I'm not careful (Shapeways is monstrously expensive when you live in the UK). Do the hands just plug into Hot Spot's hands?
