One thing I did notice in comparing the concept art with the figure was that the regular robot forearms can be deployed as twin barreled gun pods in jet and berserker mode.

 

I actually cut off all G1 collecting at the Pretender point because I hated the concept, robots inside of fat unrealistic human shells, partsforming and the rest. After the magic I have seen done with Thunderwing and Bludgeon I will be getting these and I am hoping there are other good solutions out there as we move forward. These are great figures and designs and it has provided me with a new appreciation for these characters. Thank God for IDW.

 

This Not-Thunderwing figure is hard to describe without writing a small article.

In short: He in my opinion is certainly an excellent addition to a CHUG or MP shelf. The plastic feels like Yamato's/Arcadia's VF-1 Macross products. The jet-mode's cockpit is approximately 1/60-72 scale. So he goes well with Has/Tak seeker figures. But due to the design's IDW origins he fits well with Legion/Legends scale figures, especially in Berserker mode.

I will make a point to collect my thoughts about this one and post a review in 3rd Party Reviews at some point in the near future.

Agreed, he is quite a beast in hand. I am so stoked to soon have him and DNA Design's Bludgeon on the shelf together.

 

Does anyone have any advice on how to get his berserker mode shoulders apart? I need to adjust the intake cones a bit. On mine one turns pretty loose, the other is very tight. I want to get them about the same, friction wise.

 

I just took mine down to take a look and there are four screw holes on the back of each shoulder... ?

 

Yes but they do not just come apart sadly. There is something catching in there.
I figured I'd inquire before I used my "Gaijin Smash" strength technique.

 

Mine finally arrived over the weekend and he kicks so much ass. A very intuitive and simple transformation with three modes that all work wonderfully. Great quality materials and everything holds together tightly. Amazing ability for stable poses with the heel parts and overall just a very fun figure. I cannot wait for Bludgeon and hope there are more of these soon. One week after getting PE's Beast Gorira I went to heaven and stayed there.

 

Hopefully this guy will go on sale during Thanksgiving. I need to clear out my current shelf to accommodate all the big figures coming my way:
1. Apocalypse
2. Beast Gorira

If I add this guy, I think I won't have a place to sleep.

 

Sleep is overrated anyway.

 

I love the look of the figure. But his weight works against him and posing him is tricky.

Agreed. It's all about that "Berserk Mode". Once he is in that configuration, it all works out. I love his "normal" robot mode but he is back heavy.
The die-cast in his legs helps, but it make him quite "foot heavy" and "aft heavy" in his other two modes.

 

But the standard robot mode looks beautiful too

 

I could not agree more. It is how I usually display him.

 

for those holding out for mmc, theirs is on hold and not sure if it'll come out atm.

The paint job isnt super clean but i can forgive that. There already is alot of paint apps, IMO. But hey, more is good for the berserk mode

 

Does he come with a flight stand?
