Anyone knows if it varies by store? Cause I went to two different places and they offered me different prices.

Or anyone know a better alternative?

I traded in Left 4 Dead 2 and Modern Warfare 2 for $71. That's not bad right?

They should be the same across all stores. There are promotions sometimes, right now you get 50% more credit. Promotions won't show until the clerk totals the amount and any bonuses will then be added on.

Toys R Us was giving decent amounts for games in the beginning. Goozex is a trading alternative and there is always Gamefly.

You'll never get any where near what you might think a game is worth at used retailers. You're lucky if you get $30 for a game on the day it's released.

    Ebay:

No kidding, I saw that 50% trade in value but all gamestop did was lower their values. You can't tell me Bioshock 2 is only worth 20 dollars (well, 30 with the coupon). For that price, i'd rather keep it:drunk

I traded in MW2 yesterday and with their 50% extra promotion, 25% extra for trading toward BC2, and 10% for EDGE card... and got $40.

Its one reason guys like EA have started adding release day DLC to games, with it being free to new buyers but costing 12-15 dollars for used buyers. They want to cut into the insane profit guys like Gamestop are making with the way they do trades.

Personally your best bet for a good value is to look at Ebay or find a site that lets you trade straight up with other people for games. Trading in games to most stores is a losing proposition unless you hit a really good deal.

    Link not work.

But yeah...I bought Modern Warfare 2 for $39.99 plus tax and L4D2 for $35 plus tax so I didn't think I lost much.

What stung more was that a week before I tried trading the games with a controller and they said it was $38 but since I am trading in two games I got a bonus $10 for a grand total of $48. :redface2:  I said no deal and they gave me a look like I was idiot for giving up the offer.

/\/\Yeah because don't you know you're an idiot for not trusting them. They'll only increase the price for resell to double what they gave you. That why I NEVER trade games in, they either go onto eBay or I keep them.

Eh, their values do seem to fluctuate quite a bit, but I still wind up with the games I want for next to nothing or nothing out of pocket. Plus, it gives me something for getting rid of games I don't play anymore and just let sit around.
