What are some games that should be remade with today's technology? I say Ocarina of Time, with Twilight Princess graphics and gameplay, and FF7 like the tech demo a while back
Didn't we do this thread not too long ago? As for remakes...I dunno. I'm not a fan of remakes, be it games, movies, tv shows, etc.
I would say Bionic Commando, but we are getting 2 of those. A updated versino of the classic and a revision. So on that note I'll go with a Kid Icarus.
Remakes are getting old. Companies need to learn to make something original, which is sadly becoming a lost art.
In reference to movies and TV shows I would say I agree with you. A lot of times directors get a hold of movie properties and try so hard to "leave their mark" that they make such a jumbled mess you are left wondering if the creative team of the remake even saw the original. Look no further than Wicker Man. Games are another story however. Technology keeps making games a better medium to tell a story. I could definitely see remakes of FF7, Silent Hill, and Grandia with today's tech. And as far as remakes in the vein of Bionic Commando Rearmed, the same gameplay style with current-gen graphics, there is a ton of material out there in the 8-bit and 16-bit games. Can you imagine Castlevania: Bloodlines done the same way as Bionic Commando Rearmed? I can.
TP was pretty close to a remake of OoT. If anything* they need to do a Majora's Mask-type Zelda in Wind Waker style and timeline (aka, taking place after Phantom Hourglass). *I can say this cab is rare, But I thought 'Now forget it' - 'Yo homes to Bel Air'!
Though I would love to see a faithful remake of OoT, right now is too soon. Right now Zelda needs to be revitalized not rehashed. I'd love to see a modern day Kid Icarus.
You know, even though they are generally considered unoriginal, I like sequels. A company has a chance to renovate or enhance something and I'm ok with that, even if it means it's not as original as Okami or Shadow of the Colossus or whatever. That said, I generally would rather a company go for a new entry into a series rather then a remake in hopes that the new entry will be better then anything we've seen already in the series. There are two exceptions that I have with SquareEnix though. I would really like to see FF6 made with the best of today or tomorrows technology. It's such an amazing game and seems unfairly overshadowed by FF7 and ultimately probably because it didn't have the mass appealing visuals of FF7. Not to say which is actually better- I like FF6, but if more FF7 fans saw FF6 with that technology or better, FF6 would have a liegon of more fans. Now, my other exception is actually FF7. The business side of me simply knows how well it would sell, so a FF7 remake would just be a smart decision.
most games don't need a remake. chrono trigger could use a remake. aside from that, i don't think anything else is all that necessary, unless it's a really major revamp.
I loved Casltevania 2. It was my first one and I was dissapointed the other were so linear until SOTN. I thought it was one of the more liked ones.
