The Rogue Squadron games on the N64 and Gamecube. First two or three levels are great fun, then the difficulty shoots up. Not so much a difficulty curve as a difficulty brick wall.

Funny I loved Rogue Squadron on N64, got silver on every level, A few golds.

For me it was Majora's Mask. GOD was that game annoying with the constant changing of masks. It was the first game I didn't finish. Another one is Phantom Hourglass, I did al the things for the temple, then saved thinking I could just reenter and all the doors would be unlocked where I left it. But noooo and I just put that game away never to be played again. No way was I do that stupid temple ALL over again.

The one I'm Playing now, Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Though since I knew I was bringing it on myself, I can't complain too much.

Ghost and Goblins on the NES. When I beat that game, every other game became easy.

Exactly, but those games put hair on your chest. Zelda 2 was no walk in the park either.

edit: God damn Nintendo... I wish they could have those glory days still. I hate them because I love them. If I buy a Wii I am letting them know that I support this....sorry for the rant.

I don't think I ever got frustrated with NES games, I had so few of them due to money stuff that what I did have was a treasure to be enjoyed even if I never did beat Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I'll tell you one thing though, 100 Man Brawl for SSBB, now that is f'ing frustrating. You're doing great, you're fifteen or ten away to beating the thing and then the AI goes up like 100% and those fracking alloys keep aerial blasting you until you fly off the screen. Or you manage to recover only have yourself to beat and he/she manages to snag Assist Trophy Lyn before you can. Her sword strike kills you before you can blast your clone off screen.

And don't get me started on Very Hard Boss Battles, ugh, I got Kirby all the way to Tabuu, he hits me once with any attack and then uses his goddamn red rings of death which I think Nintendo stole from Microsoft just to piss off Brawlers and you're blasted off the screen. It doesn't matter if you only have 10% damage before the hit you're still blasted off the screen and can't recover so BOOM total explosion. And shielding yourself with the Z button doesn't do jackshit either. Oh sure on the easier difficulty settings it helps you to stay grounded, but not on the very hard one and I still haven't even tried Intense. UGH I am going to unlock every challenge, but seriously at this rate it will take me to August of 2012 just to kill Tabuu on those difficulty settings.

At least the 100 man brawl isn't too insane, I mean I've gotten through it with over ten characters now and beat it twice with the proper time so that I could unlock those timed challenges. And I am not using a golden hammer on the beat it with every character challenge. Heck I wasted my first three golden hammers on a couple of stupid choices so yeah, not wasting any more. The worst thing is I still don't have a second controller to help with the coin matches thing, I can't even start a coin match with only one player. UGH.

Yeah I guess frustration brings on a whole new level when you're brawling. Lately I've been trying to play through it without yelling at the tv or swearing like a sailor. Not as easy as it sounds. But the one time I did manage to stay relatively calm I beat 100 man brawl with four characters in a row bringing my total up to six characters winning it that day. I've just gotta do that again. :D

Any SRPG game where characters can die permanently. Suikoden Tactics, which I'm playing right now, comes to mind. Enemies tend to swarm one character and kill them off really quickly, and they usually die "for good".

Number of levels I've quit and reloaded on because of that is pretty high.

I have a long list of titles from the NES.
Two more recent games that come to mind are Robotech: Battlecry and the Transformers movie game.
Battlecry’s first level was absolute heaven. Then the difficulty (sepecially on the stupid escort missions) became prohibitive.
Transformers was lousy on all levels, but I was stupid enough to play it because it was Transformers.
Guns that did nothing. Mission objectives spoken by the great Peter Cullen that were not what you were supposed to actually do in the mission. But the worst offender: “Action Zones”.

The star wars games for NES & SNES. Also, the Perfect Weapon for PS1; looked great, but the camera angle and control scheme sent it to Gamestop.

IMO, I think the worst offender was the Ironhide boss battle. A bitch to kill, tons of annoying back-up drones and being constantly damaged by the army and S7.

    It was overly fustrating.

I guess I would add Smash Bros Brawl to the list but for me it was not the actual game. It was trying to play a game online with anyone -ever.

There was nothing like waiting between 5-10 minutes to finally get a match against players I could not talk to, and sometimes didn't even seem to actually have a controller in hand. :mad

Indeed, the bike stage was annoying as hell

Recently a game that i cant beat is Call of Cthulu for Xbox (after years of searching for it), there´s this scene i cant finish! too many enemies at once

Dead Rising, while great, had an annoying save system... and lets not forget the escort missions! The only way to stand a chance to finish the game is to rise levels constantly and restart the game

Only game to ever really frustrate me was Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon when I was... 13. I was stuck on a mermaid level and I remember getting so frustrated I was ready to cry. Oh, teenage hormones.

Recently, I've been really annoyed with the Uroboros Mkono in RE5. That fight is annoying. Hopefully I'll beat it tonight.
