My gf just bought me a Nintendo DS Lite with Super Mario Bros. It's a pretty decent game. Anyone have any recommendations on other DS games or GBA games? I'm a fan of the RPG/Adventure/Action genre and sports. I was thinking of the FF IV Advance and Mario Cart DS.

The games I own (and enjoy) are:

    Mario Kart DS
    Metroid Prime Hunters
    Tetris DS
Trauma Center: Under the Knife (really great game for the touchscreen!)
    Animal Crossing: Wild World

AC:WW is a game like the Sims - it's great until you have all the most valuable items, completed most of the tasks, paid off your debt, etc. Then...it just feels pointless. It's best if you have another person to play with, though.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney was a really great game.

    also you could try:
Castlevania series (both GBA and DS) - way better than the 3D N64/PS2 games.

Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town (GBA) or HM: DS (DS) if you like a farming sim.

Meteos is a puzzle game that is fun - my friends and I actually like this over PSP's luminees.

I think it is a lot harder. I just don't fully understand it perhaps. To me Meteos is as intense as starting Tetris on level 9.

Every version of Wario Ware you can get. That game is made out of joy.

That is what's so great about the DS. More and more games are released for that system that are perfect for playing just a few minutes, but can also be rewarding for longer periods. Some examples are Kirby's Dream Quest, Animal Crossing: Wild World, Advance Wars (although a few minutes can often become a few days since it's so addictive), any of the WarioWare titles or Brain Age (but that last one isn't much fun if you ask me). If you don't have much time for gaming, you should also consider this. While games like Metroid Prime: Hunters may be great (it is), it's not a game you can just turn off an pick it up again where you left off when you feel like it.

I don't have the time or patience to play a 100-hour roleplaying game any more. But the DS is putting the fun back in gaming!

If you can find it, be sure to grab Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation for the GBA.

    Sonic Rush!!

Man, that is one of THE BEST Sonic games I've played in a LONG time. You've got a a ton of speed and trick options available. I can't wait for Sonic Rush 2.

Another game I play alot is Metroid Prime: Hunters. With WiFi multiplayer, wow, you can frag and get fragged by gamers around the world. It is one of the most entertaining multiplayer games I've played in a LONG time. The only thing missing is voice during gameplay.

Trauma Center: Under the Knife is a good game, but can get a bit draggy in spots with all of the text involved.

Lunar Legends for GBA is a pretty solid rpg, especially if you're a fan of the series. I would avoid the DS version unless you can pick it up for $20 or under.

I would also recommend picking up Zelda Minish Cap and basically any Zelda game you can get your hands on.

The RPG/Stategy Fire Emlem games are good. Of the two on GBA, I only have The Sacred Stones. It's real hard, but I never get sick of it.

On DS I'm currently playing Star Fox Command, which I recomend so long as you're not expecting the same exact experienceas Star Fox 64.

And I can never not recomed a Pokémon game from the main series...

Do any of you have Cooking Mama for the DS?

I went by Best Buy today and they'd already ran out.

    Not bad for $19.99

On the action front, Megaman Zero games are excellent, as are the Castlevania games (Aria of Sorrow being the best of the GBA ones). Megaman ZX is something of a follow-up to the Zero games, and although it's meant as a stand-alone game, you'd probably appreciate some of its aspects more if you're versed in the X/Zero universe (all of the X series really isn't necessary, though. Up to X6 should suffice).

    STAR FOX COMMAND.

    Seriously.

And Brain Age. I got a friend going to buy a DS tomorrow after I showed him those two games today.
