Chrono Trigger. Years later it's still a beautiful game in every aspect. It simply refuses to allow the passage of time to mar it in any way.

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Even after OoT, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess, I keep coming back to this one. From the Stormy night in which it begins, to the final battle in the Dark World it's like falling in love again every time.

    :)

i love the SoR series, and 3 was the best. you had running, dodging into the foreground/background, and super moves done with the mystical x button (ok you needed a 6 button pad). much deeper engine, although the strange colours they made Axel and Blaze were weird. also the music wasn't as good. otherwise its a much better game. play the japanese version if you want to fight a cross dresser and see the characters in original colours. also you could be a kangaroo.

i still love 2, but when i play it now i long to be able to break into a run.

back on topic, it metal gear solid (ps1) old enough to be mentioned? i think that game' still has tight gameplay.

I should have bigged up Doom in my original post, still playing that to this day.

Thats stayed somewhat timeless because newer FPS games just don't replicate the high speed carnage and claustrophobia that made it so great. They all scrambled for realism and to knock off cinema, but they forgot what made it all so entertaining in the first place.

I saw Yak's post and forgot about Sim City 4. It's been 7 years and I still load that game up and let my cities sim along on their own occasionally. It's still fun to watch them hum along on their own.

As far as the PS1 Saturn Age, I can still easily play Panzer Dragoon and Daytona. The graphics are dated as hell, but the gameplay is still there.

I forgot to put Civilization on my list. Then again, I don't really go back and play older versions, whatever's the current one is fine. But the mechanic is more or less the same.

its been a while since i played the original, but if rearmed is anything to go by then i'd say bionic commando is still pretty fun. just putting it out there.

I found my old copies of Metroid Zero Mission and Metroid Fusion. Always fun with Samus nuking everything
