Here's my 2nd attempt at a Classics Galvatron repaint
I'm a drybrush-nut. This looks great.
WOOOOOW!!!! WICKED NICE! I really like your style a lot! That tank mode is very sick and Galvatron's bot mode is incredible!
That looks awesome. Nice job.
I don't see one bit of purple in the tank mode; badass. That looks really nice.
Awesome looking repaint.
Thanks, everyone. I'm actually going to give it a 3rd try (still new to custom repainting) except this time I'm going to repaint a G1, animated version! Hope everyone remembers to set their clocks ahead an hour tonight
Very cool!!! Had never seen this mold before. (I know, I know. I just haven't collected in a while.)
nice job dude! keep it up!
I hate to be the one piping up a negative point. I think the way you drybrushed the metal is excellent, which made the paint on the barrel look out of place. The orange looks too think and uniform compared to the other parts.
I'm not sure what other way would make both sections fit better, but maybe a silvery orange will work?
Apart from that, I love this version! Even the purple robot panels look great with the drybrushed areas. The 4th picture looked almost like a computer render.
Thanks for your constructive criticism, Fakebuster, which is always received in the spirit it was intended. I have to admit that I was never comfortable with the "cartoon orange" for his cannon, and in retrospect, and I really wish I'd painted his forearms purple. I definitely like your adise concerning the silvery orange! This will be addressed in my next attempt. Cheers!
When do you think your next attempt will be? Do you have any other t-formers in mind?
Yes S.O.N. - I have completely taken apart a Transformer, removed all the pins, prepped each piece with extreme TLC, and will begin priming it for painting later tonight. I will post the photos of this "surprise" character early in the week. Meanwhile, I have a commission to turn an Optimus Prme into Nemesis Prime. The client is very particular about it, so I will be taking my sweet old time making sure all the details are in order before committing the brush to him. Also have a Galvatron G1 that I will be working on on the side, and well as one or two "Legends" class Transformers. A busy week, for sure!
WOw! Tjis only looks about a 1000 times better.
This looks awesome! I'd suggest putting a little more weathering on the purple and orange bits, though. They look a little too clean (especially in tank mode) beside the rest of the nicely weathered parts.
I like this paintup a lot. It adds character to a small figure that should have been more when created.
Thanks again everyone for your great comments. I will definitely 'weather' the cannon and purple shields on my next Galvatron. I wish I'd thought of this when I worked on this one, but I've already got it listed on Ebay with a couple bids, so it's too late, unfortunately. Thanks again for these great ideas and kudos!
Wow, I remember your first attempt, that one was impressive, but this one is incredible. You're getting better and better, which is crazy cause you're already so nasty. Great job.
Robot Carnival, good movie. I remember watching it with my dad when I was a kid.
