I always figured that when unicron remade megatron into galvatron that megatron had in a since been reincarnated but with his having all of megatrons memoories and life experience due to the megatron personality having been left intact but with it having been dispalced to galvatrons subconsiouse mind with it over time clashing with the mind and personality that uncron gave galvatron

in a nutshell the guy literally had two minds two pesonalities as it were

between that and whatever unicron did to cause galvatron such horrible pain at times and the lava bath

oy i am surprised the guy lived at all after that

 

It kind of looks like he bathed in that cheese in a tube stuff, just because lava isn't usually that runny. Then again we can just chalk it up to poor animation by AKOM at the time
