Since 2005 most of the information about the series (apart from an early press release from WE'VE) and the show itself seemed to indicate it was an all-new story with nothing to do with Armada/Micron and Energon/Superlink.

Now, the booklet that came with the final Galaxy Force DVD says that Planet X was an alternate Universe body of Unicron (not just a 'dark god', as in the show) that went into a frenzy repair mode after Master Megatron absorbed Unicron's spark, just like the end of Energon/Superlink. Then Takara's own official Transformers timeline has retconned Galaxy Force' events back into the Micron-Superlink continuity, making it the Unicron Trilogy, as Hasbro and Takara originally intended.

So what I want to know is... what was the bloody point of making Galaxy Force to be a seperate series (and thus cause Hasbro difficulties with Cybertron), only to make it part of the trilogy after the fact?

Also, can our Japan-loving friends stop pointing out that Galaxy Force is not a part of the Trilogy - as they have done so in almost every thread about Galaxy Force & Cybertron since 2005 - now that it is wrong?

Unless Takara changes its mind again.

I never saw a lot of Energon, because I watched a few early episodes and couldn't stand it, but I always understood if you ignored the last dozen episodes or so that it fitted in quite nicely... which was what was originally intended. Again, as I understood it from the posts at the time.

Back in late 2004 there was something on WE'VE's website (I believe it was their website) that stated the series would be a continuation of Micron Densetsu and Superlink, and was swiftly replaced by one detailing Galaxy Force as a new continuity.

Well, Takara also claim that the upcoming new movie is part of their G1 continuity, being set after Japanese G2, which is set after Battlestars, which is set after Zone, which is set after Victory, which is set after Masterforce, which is set after Headmasters, which takes place after the year 2010... And depending on which foot Takara got off today, Car Robots is or is not part of the Japanese G1-verse as well.

The very fact it's stated to be an "alternate universe" body of Unicron makes it an alternative continuity, surely? I don’t see that anything is really changed by this at all. It's just whoever wrote the booklet trying to be cute.

    it's like I've always said:

    Let the Japanese Animate/score/design/voice/distribute Transformers.

But when it comes time to write a script I don't want a Japanese Person within 900 miles of the writing team.

I dunno about the Armada trilogy, but recently I've found out that Car Robots IS tied with BW and G1 in Japan. Quite amusing.

Personally I don't consider it part of the trilogy in any way other than style.
That's why I didn't go the length of my nose to watch CYBERTRON after thinking how poor the first few episodes were. I loved ARMADA, found ENERGON okay and was glad the story ended there (in my TF bubble universe!).

I like to go with the original intent, as I see it. The toys seem to have been designed to be part of Armada/Energon. It would be nice to see some follow-through between the designers of the toys and the writers of the story.

The problem is the current situation is where they were originally headed in the first place. Megatron has Unicrony parts on him because Galvatron had absorbed Unicron's spark at the end of Energon/Superlink. Starscream is right there next to him because he followed Galvatron into the Energon Sun Primus created, even if Energon SS/Nightscream was essentially a characterless zombie who was treated as a new character.

Firespace was most likely meant to be the energon sun.

Then somebody decided 'We don't want all this storyline baggage. Let's reboot!'.

Then Hasbro probably said 'Hey, f*** you, pricks.'

I think he's referring to the same official Takara timeline chart where every series that's not the Unicron Trilogy is now part of G1.

My understanding is that Arm/Energon/Cybertron were orignally suppose to be in the same continuity in both the US and Japan. During the development of Cybertron/Galaxy Force, Takara wanted to place GF in it's own continuity. Now it sounds like Takara is going back to the original plan post mortum.

It could also be a goof up on Takara's part and whom ever wrote up the matieral for the last GF DVD set, got a hold of some old documentation before Takara changed their minds.

Do you think that'll stop Takara from shoving it in there anyway?
