Are we still in Generation 2 or have we (finally) moved up to the Third Generation?
Generation 2 ended in 1995.
Since then no-one is counting "generations" anymore.
(Except for that "Generation 3" KO of Inferno.)
indeed G2 is long gone.
I kinda miss it. Say what you will about the colours but for the new moulds their was a lot of good ideas and IMO the Cyberjets are still some of the best jet toys out their and still look modern even when their past 10 years old.
oh... Hey, i was born during G2! . there was a G3 Inferno?
heck, come to think of it, we might be in G4 by now with Transformers Armada, Energon, and Cybertron finished. I'm guessing Animated is G4 (and too kiddy for me.)
"Generation 2" was more of the name of a specific line than it is a denotation of an era.
ive never heard of g3
Link to G3 inferno?
Generation 2 was just the name of the toyline. Everything before it were then retroactively named Generation 1. We dont count the other series by generation. We call the Beast Wars/Beast Machines 'Beast Era' and Armada/Energon/Cybnertron 'The Unicron Trilogy' but thats it.
As it says, its a KO. Some guys in China thought it was funny to name it G3 Inferno like the guys who made Digimon Kos 'Season 6'.
This man speaks the truth.
And given how many "generations" have passed since the end of G2, I can't imagine we'd see a return to the numerical designations.
I'll humor him.
G3: Beast Wars
G4: Machine Wars
G5: Beast Machines
G12: Movie 1
G13: Universe 2.0
G2 seems to have become detatched from everything now and those characters were either from G1 anyway or have shown up in G1-based comics which makes them G1 too now (or in a few cases adopted into Beast or Machine Wars series). And of course the G2 cartoon was just a horrific version of G1. Apart from the G2 mention on Universe Inferno's box and probably a few other mentions elsewhere G2 has kinda been absorbed into G1
I can't imagine anything will ever end up with the tag of Generation 3. Each new series is its own thing these days.
plus I'd take a guess that most kids wont get the reference and frankly its a bit pointless these days what with most toys just carrying the name of what ever show/movie their tagged to.
I'd condense it further:
G3: Beast Wars/Beast Wars II/Machine Wars/Beast Machines
G6: Movie Franchise
Though even that doesn't work since Beast Wars is suppose to take place in the G1 continuity. The best thing you can do Cybertron2006, is just let it go and enjoy the ride.
Generation 2 ended a long time ago.
i can kind of see where you are coming from as far as g3, only counting re-imagining of g1 characters in the strictest sense, we would be in g3 with the universe/classics line, probably why the g3 trailer is called that.
You left out G1!!!!!!!
Nobody leaves out g1!!!
