Huge credit to Spencer over at Agesthreeandup.com on this. He gave me the test photo about a week ago. It enabled me to get a huge jump on getting this published.

I did want to wait a bit before posting. The last thing I want to do is proofcheck for manufacturers instead of educate on an existing product.

    Before I start ...
All participation is welcomed. If I missed anything please let me know. These differences are ones I found just by combing over the pictures.

Keep all ethical "knockoff" discussion out of this thread. This is for educational purposes only. NO DEBATES PLEASE.

There are some color differences, but those have to be ignored. Many variables with originals (fading, picture lighting, etc) make color matching against repro's inconclusive.

Again, the purpose to this is to educate eBayers. There are AWFUL sellers out there who claim these pieces as being real.

When on eBay, look at the seller's feedback and other items for sale. Chances are, they've sold many of these already. That will be the best indicator of "original" or "reproduction". You gotta use your head before using this guide.

    Something to note ...
There are several variances between original Wheeljacks. Being able to defunct a reproduction based on image to grid alignment and flap variables is out the window.

And here's the base image for the comparisons.
This is provided so you have a clean view of the product as a whole.

and away we go with the comparisons!

    1. Window to Grid
    [IMG]
As you can see, there seems to be an extra row of grids towards the bottom of the window. The upper grids were trimmed short.

    2. Grey Border
    [IMG]
It's off. Not much to note here since it's fairly visible.

    3. Image Gap
    [IMG]
With the Mirage, the tire was trimmed from the right side of the box. It looks like Wheeljack's missile is doing the same thing at the top.

    4. Font Issues
    [IMG]
The same font issues from previous releases are carried though again.

    5. Centering issues
    [IMG]
and a minor centering issue with the font was found on this release too. The wording is just too high leaving quite the gap down below.

    You bet : )

Unfortunately, the Wheeljack I'm looking to obtain is the body only. Finding bits and pieces are way out of my price range.

I have a complete, mint original Wheeljack. I can post some hi-res pics of his accessories if it would help.

    Thanks again.
These KO/authentic comparisons are very important for G1 collectors.

That guy's a scamming bastard. I contacted him about his KO Bumblebee, and he replied saying he had no idea, but would amend his auction. He never did. Asshole.

I reported all of that seller's auctions with links to HighendTF's guide and here for verification, but nothing's happened yet. Doubt it will to be honest. Glad you didn't pay for the Wheeljack though - I saw someone bid £102 and wanted to warn them (you) it was fake, but couldn't because it was a private auction. Pain in the backside.

I dont have pictures but i could try and take some but here are the differences I noticed with my diaclone junker and my G1 junker

The plastic is TOTALLY different. It almost looks translucent in some lighting conditions. The original is good old ABS plastic. where the KO seems softer.

The paint on the diecast fenders are a different white than the body of the car. Im not sure what a mint G1 wheeljack looks like but my junkers paint matches the yellowing on ther respective bodies.

The decals are the biggest difference. the numbers seem like they are printed with an inkjet. they scratch off. that is why you only see one side of my KO Wheeljack. cause i scratched up the printing on the other side. Im sure the other decals are the same way too.

I love revisiting these old threads and seeing all the 'banned' action.
On topic (I guess) if it seems like too good of a deal, it's probably a KO.
    Duh
