I see alot of people talking and mentioning G2 what is it? is it a new continuity or just continues were G1 left off, cause i see alot of characters in G2 that weren't in G1 example: Drift, Crosswise etc

generation 2 is the sequel to g1. G2 had a comics series which picked up from the marvel g1 and had a toyline from 92-95 and consisted ofmostly "neon" redecos of g1 toys. Also megatron was a green and purple tank.

    No.

    Both are more recent characters.

The G2 comic was done in the 90's, before Beast Wars.

Which Crosswise are we even talking about? There's three by my account, all bearing no relation to one another. RiD Spychanger? Armada Mini-Con? Cybertron Van Helsing dude?

Seriously, there'd be a lot less useless threads here if people would just take a look at the wiki :)

Up until 1993 there was no "G1", it was simply called "The Transformers". By 1992 the Transformers toy sales and fiction was wanning. So Hasbro decided to revive the Transformers name by branding it "Transformers: Generation 2", which had some recolored toys and some new molds, a Marvel comics book series, and re-release of the Animated series with edits. After that people started to refer to anything before 1993 as "Generation 1", even though that was just a fan term for a long time.

I don't think Hasbro really used that term until the 2000s. After a while a lot of us older farts started having nostalga for the "good old days" and G1 had a revival. When Dreamwave Productions made it's comic series starring the old characters, they refered to it as "Generation 1", because it had all the old characters in it. More recently thanks to Fun Publications some of user other old farts started having a "Generation 2" revival with new stories and characters from that line.

Van Helsing Crosswise is Best Crosswise.

G2 is a failed attempt to reboot Transformers in the U.S with some good new molds and some wacky repaints.

G2 gave me Laser Optimus Prime which was repainted as Scourge. The best toy ever.

    Here's what we mean.

    Transformer G2 commercials - YouTube

I found it weird they used the G1 dinobots in the commericals rather than the more garish G2 models they were actually selling.

They sold the silver Dinobots. Each G2 Dinobot had three color variations. Here they are in order of release-
    Grimlock: silver, turqoise, blue
    Snarl: silver, green, red
    Slag: silver, red, green

There were also ones that were unreleased, like green Swoop and a yellowish Grimlock.
