I find it interesting how a lot of those names have seen use since then. Also Swoop as Divebomb - the comic creators must have had access to that years later when they wrote the whole Swoop / Divebomb rivalry.
    Interesting stuff!

Its kinda sad how unoriginal and terrible the first draft names were in comparison to their final names. Entertaining definitely.

I doubt it. The Dinobots and Predacons were almost immediately poised against each other when the Preds were released - even in the TV commerical - so I think it was just one of those inevitable things that happened since Swoop & Divebomb share similar sizes & traits by being 'wing flapping birds' apart of faction sub-groups. It's just more interesting to see Swoop go against someone like Divebomb than Laserbeak or a Seeker.

Interesting how close Ratchet came to being the biggest dirty sexual innuendo in TF history :)  Man he really dodged a bullet with the name change.

Kinda like the original Dinobot names too... as generic as they are in hindsight.

    Neat.
Huge :lol  at all these ones. Especially Megs as 'Slagmaker' (poopmaker :lol ) and Ratchet as 'Cool Hand Lube' (wtf's with that one?). I think the Warpath as Hot Shot really matches his G1 cartoon voice and personality.

Man I dunno if names really are THAT important but it feels like maybe it wouldn't have caught on so well with all the characters having such goofy names. Glad they changed!

Ratchet has the best name history, EVER. That even beats out Erector and Drillnuts.

Jazz with three z's makes me imagine him snoring at his control panel while Ironhide is covering the sides of his head.

Most if not all of these "other" names for Transformer characters are funny if not just downright crazy! I also find it amazing that some of the alternate names found their way into Transformers history at some point. Megatron is referred to as the "Slagmaker" in several comics and "Roller" wound up becoming the name for Optimus Prime's scout vehicle!!!
