How many of us here have seen "Kickin' It Old Skool" (starring Jamie Kennedy)-- show of hands?

    Okay, then... show of hand?

Well, considering it barely earned $4 mil at the box office, that's not surprising.

I've seen far worse movies, and this one certainly wasn't memorable. But it does have one redeeming thing about it: the movie opens on a kid's toy collection in 1986, and there are closeups of several G1 TFs like Blaster, Sludge, and Optimus Prime. That part caught me by surprise and actually made me curious to watch the rest of the movie just to see if other TFs make a cameo... which they did--a little later in the movie, a couple others are shown in the hospital room. Pretty sure one was Topspin. The "Super" Go-Bots Cy-Kill and a Rock Lord are also shown, and Jamie's character even offers his "whole Go-Bots collection" for a favor.

But there were a few I wasn't able to ID. Some are barely shown for a second in the beginning before animated paint splatters during the title credits and makes them difficult to see. There was one in particular that was larger and looked pretty cool--kinda reminded me of a Targetmaster or Headmaster I saw once. It looked more like a G2 TF (even though the beginning of the movie is set in '86), but I just didn't recognize it. I was wondering if anyone else maybe has it on DVD and might be willing to try ID'ing all the TFs that appear and list them here? I sure would be grateful.

Sorry, I don't have the ability to offer DVD screen caps or I certainly would post them.

I liked that part. And the part where Jamie and his friend have a discussion regarding 'the n word.' Everything else was pretty horrible.

the part where he's in the hospital bed, the camera pans over to reveal the following:

    -G1 Topspin
-Deluxe (small) Zenon from Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad (Gridman)

    In the beginning credits part:
    -Beast Wars Apache/B'Boom
    -G1 Whirl
    -G1 Blaster
    -G1 Mal-transformed Sludge
    -G1 Scourge
    -G1 Skullcruncher
    -G1 Pointblank (maltransformed)
-S.S.S.S. Zenon (Same one as before.... AGAIN... *sigh*)
    -Gobots Cy-Kill (Large)
-G1 Optimus Prime (with sticker on window, and busted up bumper)
-Gobots Cy-Kill (Same as before... AGAIN... *sigh*.. AGAIN)

    Radical, dude! Thanks.

B'boom's legs are in another shot too--the one with the thing that looks like a Rock Lord. Guess the prop person didn't realize that toy wasn't released until a decade later. And did you notice how many times the same freakin He-Man fig was shown... well, except for the very first one shown is a really crappy bootleg. And Castle Grayskull is in the lower right corner of the frame just before Justin leaves his bedroom.

I went through the beginning and hospital scene again last night, practically frame-by-frame, and spotted a few others.

    From the opening:

    - there are some kind of uncut Go-Bots trading card sheets on the wall and on the mirror.
    - there's a cut-out pic of one of the Takara Kronoform wristwatches on the wall. I still have one of these: http://x-entertainment.com/articles/0805/
    - Metroplex is on the nightstand
    - another TF-looking toy is in vehicle mode on the bookcase in front of a large firetruck. Looks very much like a Minicon.

    From the hospital scene:

    - Right next to Topspin on the window ledge, there are 2 TFs mistransformed. One of them kinda looks like Scourge, but I can't ID the other.
    - On the cart next to the bed, you can see Metroplex (again) with Optimus Prime's cab and trailer.

There's also an 80's movie reference in the hospital scene that I didn't catch the first time. The doctor--Dr. Frye--is a cameo appearance of actor Alan Ruck's character Cameron Frye from Ferris Beuler's Day Off. He says, "I'm still paying for that damn Ferrari" in reference to the one he trashed in the movie twenty years earlier.

Sad that a crappy movie's background elements and pop culture references are more entertaining than the movie itself. I also thought David Hasslehoff's cameo was hilarious. And the DVD deleted scene in the bar with all the 80's cameos is pretty amusing too. If only Mr. T had made an appearance, then it would've been complete.
